I appreciate your article and you giving everyone a glimpse behind the curtain of the OCC. Our SODs are a very important group, and they do an amazing job. I would just like to let everyone know that the other groups listed in your article are equally important. The Dispatchers share the responsibility with the Captain for the safe operation of the flight; Dispatch Specialists support the Dispatcher by making sure all their data bases are current and up to date; Customer Service Coordinators keep a watchful eye on late flights to make sure connections are made or Customers are rebooked; Maintenance Control coordinates any repairs required to keep the fleet safe and moving; ATC Specialists monitor and manage traffic flows across the National Airspace System; and last but not least FLIFO agents make sure the flight times are updated and accurate. I am proud to work along side of these dedicated men and women who keep our airline moving 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 11 years at SWA and have loved every minute of it. This is so cool.. never blogged before but I have started a couple of discussion forums in the office. What a great idea to bring our Customers (Internal and External) together this way. Way to go, whoever had this clever idea.
