To all you people "disappointed" that SWA would charge extra for WiFi... come on now. These guys already have bags fly free and some of the cheapest airfare I've ever seen, along with the best customer service I've ever experienced. They have to make money somehow, they're still a company! They can't give everything away for free, geeze.
And to the ones that think it should be built into ticket prices... no, it should not. That makes it extremely unfair to the people who either chose not to use WiFi or do not bring devices with them capable of using it.
I personally would probably use it, but I wouldn't expect someone else to pay more for their ticket so I can use it for "free." Besides, WiFi isn't "free" if they slightly raise their ticket prices to pay for it.
I think it should be an option to add to your ticket when ordering. Then you get some temporary username and password to log on with and activate when you get on the plane and then no longer works when the flight is over. Or, you create a permanent account that only allows you on when you've paid for it.
But long story short, I think it's fine to charge for, because I'm sure it's going to be quite costly to implement. Just don't force people to pay for it by adding it to ticket prices.
