It's nice to see Southwest expand at MSP. I wish you could have added St. Louis before the Thanksgiving rush. Also, any chance on adding a Florida city or two from MSP? People in Minneapolis like to go south where it's warm in the winter.

Is Southwest ever going to start service to Minneapolis? I have seen about 50 posts here in the past year or so as well as an article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune http://www.startribune.com/business/26937084.html last week about Minneapolis wanting Southwest to enter the market here. The airfare here is way to high anywhere you fly to and Southwest could really help the travel in and out of here.
Here is an example: Minneapolis to Chicago (300 miles) is $510 per person. I could drive it in 6 hours and use about $100 in gas round trip.
Southwest the same weekend from Philadelphia to LAX (2500 miles) is $308 round trip
We aren't asking for 100 flights a day but I think you could enter the market here with 2 or 3 planes by going to a couple cities that have hubs.
Please help us from getting ripped off all the time.
Thank you

It is nice to see SWA teaming with another airline but it would be nice to WestJet fly to more US cities. The only option to go to Hawaii, Mexico, or the Caribbean is to fly North into Canada then South. I don't see how this is a good match for SWA unless they start flying to those places from the U.S.

1. I love the new website
2. I'm glad Southwest finally found a way to go to FLL from the west coast in one stop with the new Denver route. This will help Southwest a lot if the timing is right for cruise passengers.
IE: Leaving FLL at 12noon.
3. I would love to see Southwest at Minneapolis airport. They could do some short haul flights such as Chicago (1 hour flight), St. Louis (90 minute flight), and Denver (2 hour flight). This should allow people on Southwest to go most served cities in one stop and should require no more than 3 planes. Minnesotans hate Northwest Air and need a better discount airline than Airtran.

Helen,
I have flown to and from BWI about 100 times and through Chicago's Midways airport as well (Sorry, I never been to LAX.) Southwest is my primary airline on cities they fly to with Northwest as my second choice for flying to cities Southwest doesn't fly to. I wouldn't judge any company by what the media makes a company appear to be until you fly them. You should go to some airline website message boards (not the airlines themselves but websites such as flyertalker.com) and see what people say about an airline and fly that airline before you start trash talking them. I think you are the one who is rude, arrogant and stupid not to mention FAT since you haven't said you flown Southwest and you are judging them by what a TV show said about them.

I have flown Southwest about 100 times and never waited an hour for luggage. There must have been something unusual happen that time you flew with Southwest. I would fly Southwest more if they went to other cities. I'm really hoping that with the Northwest-Delta merger, NWA gives up some gates at MSP and Southwest moves in.

Why are you people blaming Southwest for ATA's failure. Bill has explained it isn't Southwest's fault that ATA went bankrupt. Yes, they had a codeshare with ATA but that doesn't mean that Southwest had anything to do with poor ticket sales at ATA or the freight contract they lost. What part of that don't you people understand? Are you the same people that blame the grocery store for the rising price of food because gas prices are going up? It isn't the grocery stores fault nor is ATA's failure Southwest's fault.

Quote: Does anybody know of a lawyer starting any class action suits over this?
How are you going to sue a company that went bankrupt? Everything the company owns is going to be auctioned off and most money will go to the creditors and debt owed so there won't be much left. If any!

Dorothy,
You probably won't see Southwest fly to Daytona Beach anytime soon because they already serve nearby airports such as Jacksonville and Orlando (Southwest has a huge presence at MCO) I have been to MCO about 25 times and find it easy to get in and out of there compared to some other airports.
It would be nice to see Southwest go into a couple cities and do some short haul flights such as Minneapolis to Denver, St. Louis, and Chicago. they could probably do it with 2 or 3 planes. Chicago is an hour each way. St. Louis is 90 minutes and Denver is 2 hours. This would cover about 75% of Southwest's cities in one layover or less.
It would also be nice to see Southwest fly to Las Vegas or Phoenix from either PBI or FLL. You can't get to west coast in one stop from South Florida.

Does Southwest have plans to code-share with another airline now that ATA is gone?
It would be nice to that since Southwest is slow at moving into new cities.
Sun Country flys to a lot of cities that Southwest doesn't fly to and also uses 737's, maybe that would be a good fit to expand both networks.

Now that ATA has folded, is Southwest going to start another code-share agreement with another airline?
Would be nice to see Sun Country code-share since neither airline code-shares with anyone.
Maybe Southwest can start flying to Hawaii now.

Speaking of finance, it would be nice to see Southwest pick up some of those Aloha Airlines 737's and expand into more cities.

Southwest does fly to most cities where professional sports play but they have a couple left off the list. The nearest airport to New York City is a 90 minute drive (would be nice if Southwest flew to one of the three New York City airports.) Another one is Minneapolis, the nearest airport is Chicago, a 7 hour drive. Some others are Atlanta and Charlotte.
If some other carriers merge, I hope Southwest can pick up some extra 737's from those airlines selling aircraft they don't need and Southwest can fly to more cities.

How will customers know which planes will have it and when will it happen?
Also, is there going to be a fee to use it and if so how much?
I like Olivers idea of power ports at each seat for those who travel cross country. Laptop batteries only last 2-3 hours.
I also, agree with the other posters about blocking such content as VOIP and porn websites.
I hope SWA has some kind handout with info such as how to connect and keep sound off or use headsets and flight attendants should have the power to tell a customer to turn the computer off if anything is deemed inappropiate.

Please tell me Southwest is moving into the Minneapolis market. Domestic fares would be much lower if Southwest moved into Minneapolis. All you have to do is fly to a three or four key cities such as Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, St. Louis, Orlando, or Tampa. Every time I fly to Minneapolis, I get screwed on the price by other airlines.
Also, I hope that Southwest is adding flights to Palm Beach. You can not fly to any Southwest city in the western U.S. without 2 stops to go to/from PBI. Would you please add a direct flight or two to Phoenix or Las Vegas so PBI can make to the Pacific time zone in one stop.
Thank you

I agree with minnemandy. Minneapolis needs Southwest. It certainly can't be hard to put 2 planes at MSP and run them to Chicago (for flights going east and south) and another to Denver, Salt Lake City, or Vegas for flights going west. The new HHH terminal is a great place to fly in and out of too.
Please Southwest, Minneapolis needs you!

Mr Kelly,
I do like the new boarding process so if I get an A pass, I won't have to show up to the airport 2 hours before my flight to get a good seat.
I agree with what a lot of other people have said about the new pricing changes and do not like it.
One more comment...Southwest doesn't seem to expand into other cities like some other airlines have, it would be nice to see Southwest move into other cities so I'm not forced to fly more expensive airlines. I know SWA uses market data to decide which airports to move into but why can't you start a thread in the blog asking what readers and your current customers want?
I'm sure you could move into other markets just by flying into key cities such as Las Vegas, Baltimore, Orlando, and Chicago then expand if needed.

Would be nice to see more cities served from Washington Dulles as well as entering the upper Midwest market. Southwest doesn't serve Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin. Why does southwest avoid that area?
Minneapolis has been rated in the top 10 year after year for number of passengers going in and out of there. Northwest is never on time and Sun Country has horrible hamburgers.
Better yet, maybe Southwest could buy out Sun Country since they use 737's too.

The answer is O'Hare but Southwest does serve Chicago's Midway. Hey Brain, when is Southwest going to start flying into more airports? It would be nice to see Southwest serve more Midwest airports. It seems Southwest presence there is lacking. I'm sure Southwest could fly to hub airports (Midway, Vegas, Orlando, Tampa, Baltimore) from some of those cities. They don't serve any airports in upper midwest. Is there a reason why???

I'm glad to see SWA is listening to what thier customers want. I fly a lot from Baltimore (Usually SWA when I can.) But there are airports that SWA doesn't fly to. It would be nice to see the company move into other airports. They have only moved into Dulles recently (and San Francisco coming soon.) I fly a lot to Minneapolis but usually have to pay a high price because one airline has monopoly on the gates. It would be nice to see SWA move into one or two gates there and fly to key cities like Chicago, Las Vegas, and a Florida city where they can switch planes. MSP is in desperate need of a discount airline and people there wouldn't mind switching planes for a good price and service.

This is a great idea but it would be nice to see other outlets built into this same box such as USB and/or 12 volt cigarette lighter plugs also.

Southwest has only moved into 2 new airports in the past couple years. It would be nice to see them move into more markets such as Minneapolis. One airline has a monopoly on the gates there and people in Minnesota are tired of getting ripped off on airfare. Hopefully Southwest has or will look into this since Minneapolis is the 7th busiest airport in the U.S. Even if they only go to 2 or 3 hub cities to switch planes, people would still fly with Southwest to and from MSP. They are missing out on a lot of business.
