Gary, I can definitely see you as Indiana Jones, and Gillian and Nan could choose between Marion Ravenwood and Dr Irina Spalko, but I think this year you deserve to be our Super Hero, so Batman is my choice. (Then Gillian and Nan can be Wonder Woman and Cat Woman!)
Can't wait to see you, whatever the choice!

James,
Great blog on the Maintenance Appreciation visit and thanks for all the great photos you included! Just to clarify, Scottie Z is my cochair on the MX Appreciation Team and he created our mechanic friendly Sudoku which was a BIG HIT in all our visits... but Jeff truly went above and beyond to cohost this event at his base and really showed the volunteers an insiders look at a day (or night) in the life of a SWA Mechanic "on the line."
Shannon, the "new chic" is Kay Tennant, a dedicated SWA Flight Attendant from BWI, she's Alumni on the Culture Committee and joined us kind of last minute so Scottie and I were being good hosts! We miss you a ton, but true to form Scottie kept me laughing and just this side of being in trouble in MDW!
Thanks to ALL the volunteers that joined in the FUN during our 4 Maintenance Appreciation visits this year...and to all the guys that shared a bit of their work world with us....WE APPRECIATE YOU and the work you do everyday to keep our planes in tip top shape!

Bill, thank you for bringing me to tears (of laughter) so early in the morning. I can feel your pain as I share your afflication of blurting merged thoughts before the edit button kicks in.
In spite of what may come out of your mouth, your son will,no doubt, feel your pride and know the LUV that surrounds the toast and your blessings for the couple...and based on your blogs, you will do a stellar job of delivering a message that means alot to them both. Best of Luck on the big day!
Mer,
who is the LAST person you could imagine being at a loss for words??

Fare thee well, Sir Richard.
I feel certain that Richard is unaware of the impact he has had on so many lives around here because, at times, he is far too humble.
For many, me included, Richard was the first Leader to provide the guiding light in developing thier career paths.
For me, he has been a sounding board, a fair minded Leader, a mentor, and a friend (whose wit and sense of humor have brought me much joy.) I will be forever grateful for the time I spent working with him and learning from him.
Richard, you have a gift for quietly being an integral part of people's lives and I hope your new position continues to give you the opportunity to "win friends and influence people." I wish you all the best!
Toni

WOW...twice...WOW
First, thank you Gary for taking the time to communicate directly with our Blogging Customers on this issue. Hearing it "straight from the horses mouth" allows more of our Customers to gain a better understanding of the what, why and how of Southwest Airlines recent exploration about changing our seating policy.
Second, for all the times we have heard about the drawbacks and Customer complaints about our Open Seating policy, this was an real eye opener! I hadn't realized that a strategy had been born by our late booking Business Customers that really worked to their advantage when it came to Open Seating. You folks are very clever!!
To help calm the unrest I am hearing from these comments, I would only add...rest easy my friends, we at Southwest Airlines, should we learn that Assigned Seating is our destiny, will find a unique and more egalitarian approach to it than those other guys!
