Have read the comments. Would suggest that an optional fee be added when reservation made (or an annual fee for those that wanted it). That would probably help with workload on Flight Attendants (F.A.). I'm sure F.A. workload is a concern. Would mean those that don't use don't pay (like early boarding fee).
I certainly don't think it should be added free. SWA has an extremely competitive fair program and shouldn't compromise that for the sake of some that will use the service as opposed to those that won't.
Perhaps, by adding an optional fee when reservation made you could tie the access permission (or access code) to the reservation #, i.e. using the same # for both. That way only the passenger that wanted the service would be charged for the service and this might simplify allocating access rights. If folks wanted to add the service at flight time the F.A. could use the same # with credit card. This likely also simplify record keeping since the Reservation # is tied to the passenger name and could help with future marketing.
Using above method would allow me to use the service for a time on a flight and let my spouse of other family member use the service as long as the reservation # is only being used once at a time. Wouldn't happen often but might be done on long flights. Still paying for one use of the service. This would also cover situation where one family member's battery runs down but another family member has laptop.
