I would love to hear what you find out. Our flight from St Louis to Miami was cancelled for tomorrow morning, and we're considering driving there if our flight home next week is still good. Please post an update if you find out! The chat bot didn't work and no agents are available in chat and the phone number is busy (for hours), so I can't get through to anyone to find out. Glad to hear your are not a BOT OR a Southwest Employee. And you are correct about what happens when one ASSUMEs. Please accept my apology. It was interesting that one of the comments on this string also ran into the same problem. Once our holiday is finished I WILL contact Southwest directly and find out how they prioritize bumping in this situation. I was very surprised the algorithm Southwest uses didn't kick out the last people to check in...and instead bumped Companion Pass people. I can only guess that the system was trying to prioritize higher paying passengers and because a Companion Pass has a different confirmation number the system didn't realize that two people were traveling together. You’re unbelievable. I have a companion, so I can’t get the online booking to work. Worse, their next flight that is available basically makes my entire trip pointless. This isn’t a 1 day delay, the app says they don’t have a flight till Thursday night with an open seat and that isn’t even assured. I haven’t had a vacation in a year and not only have they ruined the scheduled vacation I planned for 3 months (can’t cancel it), I lose the days, and worse, they ruined my Christmas, because by the time I get there, the other half of the family will have gone home.
I was on hold for 3 hours and 14 minutes when I heard what sounded like the VOIP server crashing and the call drop.

On my last MAX flight the music was off or broken I think some FAs just don’t turn it on or think it’s distracting when they make the welcome aboard announcements.
before Covid and the MAX8 being suspended from air travel an admin did post the music list here on the community not sure if they still do though.

Bumping because I saw this increased fare for the first time the other day and was wondering why it was double the price!
I don't know why I'm second guessing myself, but even if you had a 4+ hour layover, your checked bags will still be checked to its final destination, correct? I have an upcoming flight that has an exact 4 hour layover. What do they do with the bag all that time, just hold it?

Can they do this? Yes if it was the airline's fault in some way they are able to fix mistakes.
They are not likely to go for this if the problem is that you want to change your plans, the normal scenario would be that you have to pay the current price for changes. (No change fee!)

I'm pretty sure it's "same day" flights, and you'll get one per boarding pass so assuming with the length of layover at HOU you'll actually get coupons for each flight, and you can save them for the second flight if you prefer.

Personally I book direct though the hotel company 90% of the time a Marriott thanks to status but on occasion I’ll find a really good deal though priceline express deal and usually with about 2min of research I can figure out the hidden hotel and I can Google express deal coupon and usually find 5-15% off to make the deal sweeter then I call and add the rewards number to get the perks not always stay credit but late check out and upgrade usually without issue
I usually earn my SW status on segments so those few SW points don’t bother me I like my suite upgrades more

I lived in the Birmingham AL area for 20 years. I know the airport and it is well run. I am going to guess that you arrived at the "tiny" airport in a nick of time rather than the standard two hours before flight time.
If this is true, you had a compressed schedule which is why the bags didn't make it on the first flight and had to wait for the next flight.
Please confirm your arrival time at the airport versus the flight departure time.

Yep. Interesting.
While they’re fixing it…hopefully they’ll put in a way to automatically use them. I often times just open up the browser anyway so I can paste them into the app for a new ticket purchase.
Otherwise I have to take a screen shot off the website and then manually type them in.
Both are really a needless hassle.

Most customer-facing employees at Southwest have nametags or wings on that show their first name.
There is NO reason a passenger should ever need more than that if they have a complaint. Southwest can go back and see who was working at any gate or on any flight on any given day with just a first name. I do not work for Southwest but I DO work in a public-facing job where we are required to wear ID badges with our full names on them. I can tell you MULTIPLE stories of co-workers being tracked down and sent messages on social media, Facebook, etc by customers who read full names off of ID badges. I can tell you that my coworkers who have experienced this have found it quite unsettling.
With the way the world is these days, it can actually be quite a safety concern for a disgruntled or irate customer to know an employee's full name.

I’ve actually seen 1 flight delayed because they were waiting on some extenders. Some extenders are taken (on purpose or accidentally) some are left in the seats and if the FA doesn’t get it before the next flight it sits there till overnight cleaning which means the stockpile in the front and back are gone.
They will always have at least 2 extra on hand because they need it for the safety demo
