I did this very thing the first year I obtained companion pass. Should be no problem. Just given them a call once you have CP.

Agree 100% on flying with family. I'm an A-lister who came over to SW in the AirTran purchase. I would be upgraded to their business class about 2/3 of the time. And when flying with my wife or daughter they'd frequently be upgraded with me. This difference between Airtran & SW never ceases to me annoy me: Airtran: my daughter would frequently get business class when flying with her dad. Southwest: I have to get on board LATER when flying with my daughter. (And I have to buy her early-bird or else I'll move from A16ish to mid-B or worse!) Given I can't sit in an exit row when flying with my 7-year-old and she will sit in a middle seat, I dont understand the policy that she can't board with me at A-18 or wherever I pull. I generally love SW customer service, but many times before I obtained companion pass, when doing family travel, we would fly others just because it annoys me so much that my A-List preferred status means nothing when i give Southwest MORE business and take my family.

And remember if they're both on your laps, you and your husband can't sit in the same row on the same side. You'll have to be across the aisle from one another. The reason is that there are 4 overhead oxygen masks for every 3 seats. So they can't have two lap babies in the same row of 3. Just a heads up so you dont get settled in only to have a flight attendant ask you to move -- and then not have a seat near hubby.

Moedio, I had that issue when i first got pre. I did precisely what Lindsay described and I've had it every time. When it doubt, call SW Customer Service and they'll take good care of you.

Mine didnt automatically work on SW at first, I called SW and we made sure everything in my address, middle initial, etc was precisely the same on my TSA Pre and my SW account. Since then I've been pre every time.

I do this frequently because I fly for work and change flights at the last minute sometimes (lost of SW flights from BWI to MCO -- my usual trip). I usually approach the gate agent when s/he isn't busy and mention it so they remember to call any A-listers after the A group. But I'm sure just lining up with the families is just fine too.

I once boarded A-1 and saw a preboard couple -- Im not joking -- save 15 seats. I had to wait for them to throw hats, scarfs, books magazines, etc, all over the first 3 rows! I went back to my exit row and it was just fine. But certainly annoying. To the OP: How does one save overhead bin space!? I'd just take it if I needed it. Sliding suitcases. I'm A-list preferred plus companion pass and I have just taken seats. E.g. someone saving an exit row, i just sit in it if it's unoccupied and *say nothing* beyond "I'm going to sit here since it's unoccupied." Then say nothing else. What are they going to do?
