Another option would be to purchase Business Select fares which allow you to board first after pre-boarders. A1-15 would be the positions, and A1 is the first person eligible to sit in the exit row. RISK: There could be through passengers on the plane who can in on the previous flight and are continuing on. It is rare that these folks take up all the exit row seats, but it is possible.

I keep thinking the social media team is the right one to get it figured out, too @bec102896! For future, I would always recommend booking any trip that straddles a changing year in two separate segments.

My actual, real world experience is that they are very clear about the regulations, and I often hear flight attendants reminding of the rules both over the PA and directly to flyers.
It's unfortunate that flight attendance have to police this, but all my observations have indicated that they are doing a good job.

Getting on the "view" side is always my fave game when travelling thru or to FL!
But unless the plane turns, or is going east/west, you'll need to be sitting on the side facing the beach.

As a simple sign of respect, when they come to give the exit row briefing, I give them my undivided attention. They have a lot to do in a little amount of time.

I'd defer this one to Southwest to be certain, but since you are flying a domestic flight, I don't see why you would need a COVID test.

@chgoflyer (When I was under that requirement for client-paid travel I would upgrade to BS at the airport, paying the difference myself in order to earn more points and board A1-15.) I like your style!

Summarizing: Likely only curbside check in closed. You will probably have the option to tag the bag yourself, but you will hand it to someone at the baggage desk. If you need assistance, you can go thru that line/option as well. More here on baggage check hours. If you have one ticket for the whole trip, you bag will be tagged at check in to your final destination, and you will not have to pick it up in MDW...as was shared below. Happy flying!

@lsully100 I feel you! We are just that close too, but I can't justify piling money to achieve again when my wife (companion) is pregnant and when we have a ton of point banked. But I hope you are able to make it work. Great reminder from @DancingDavidE to ensure whatever you do...be sure he points will post by EOY.

@jksobonya I think this one was an exception. I received he offer, and I was glad to find that you didn't have to book at a certain time. This one did not even require registration!

Congrats and welcome to the club -- yes, your A List should supersede the EBCI. Enjoy!

This is always an interesting conversation because there is an unofficial process from SW that makes this happen. Here is what I understand (as, again, this seems to an unofficial benefit). Companions will "always" get sequential boarding with the Companion Pass holder. This seems to be true whether you have A List status or not. That said, it seems like with you wanting Early Bird, you are not an A Lister. So...if you want EBCI for you both, I would think you would need to pay for both. BUT I am not certain. A quick message to the Southwest team on social media might get you the answer you are looking for. We'd love for you to share back here if you do!

@strgth Sorry I have not gotten back to you on that. It was a lot to process -- LOL! I am not 100% sure to how answer about this specific scenario. Since the $ values are so close, a variable would be how many points you have to buy at a time. i.e. can you buy just what you need? I totally understand trying to get the best deal, but for me, the $40 isn't worth the process of buying points. I have no experience buying points, but my question would be: how quickly do they deposit, and what if the fare goes up between now and then?

You should be good! As long as there are seats left in any of the fare classes, you are good. That "1 left" indicator in theory speaks to one ticket left at that price before the same ticket/fare goes up in price. When in doubt, you could always call to book, but I have literally never had an issue with a seat not being available because you add your Companion immediately after purchasing your ticket. (Be sure to do that!) Finally, in the worst case where a second seat ended up not being available, you could always cancel your purchase within 24 hours for a full refund. Enjoy your CP!

I think you are already on your trip, but SW's site says: Southwest Employees may ask for age verification at any point within the Customer journey, so Customers should travel with a copy or original of any government-issued ID, such as a birth certificate or passport, for their Lap Child. They will absolutely accept pictures of the document, and I have found they are very lenient, especially if the child is tiny. Worst case, you can take anything that shows the child's birthdate. I think you will be fine, but -- of course -- SW is within their rights to enforce the rules. Hopefully whatever you will be able to provide will work. Good luck!

I don't think buying points is ever a good deal UNLESS you need just a couple thousand to get you enough to purchase a fare. So here is the question: which is cheaper? Buy some points to top off what you need to book the trip on points (cost for those points) OR the cost of booking one way on points and then paying for the return leg in cash? With SW it is easy to book the outgoing and incoming lets separately, and there is no difference in the cost if you do that. Simply, is it cheaper to buy the extra points or book part of your trip in cash. Every situation is different, but I think that's the key question to help you decide. Good luck!

Specifically from the FAQs @TheMiddleSeat shared: "Once you are qualified for Promotional Companion Pass, meaning you registered, booked and traveled on a qualifying flight during the applicable dates specified in promotion terms and conditions, you will receive an email from Southwest that includes information on next steps and how to designate and utilize the Promotional Companion Pass. Marketing intends to send this email to all qualifying Members within 10 days after the second flight is completed." Enjoy!

You will pay for each flight of your roundtrip per person. For example, if you are flying out and back direct, you will need to pay for upgraded boarding (and then recieve the credit) for yourself going and coming and also then for your wife. So a direct roundtrip for you both will required purchasing four upgraded boardings (to be credited from Chase). If you have connections, you have to pay for upgraded boarding for every flight you actually take (unless you have a "one stop, no plane change" where you have a stop/"connection" but don't get off the plane. You might find that based on your spots after check in, you might want it going one way and then may not coming back or one one of your connections but not another. Enjoy!

Unfortunately, I am afraid it has to be an actual face mask. See here for more info (emphasis mine): "The following are some examples of coverings that are not accepted: Masks not made of a solid piece of material, including those with slits, exhalation valves, or punctures Face shields (face shields may be worn in addition to a mask that meets the above required attributes) Bandanas, scarves, ski masks, or balaclavas Shirt or sweater collars (e.g., turtleneck collars) pulled up over the mouth and nose Masks made from a single layer or thin fabric that do not block light Masks that do not fit properly (large gaps, too loose or too tight)" I can understand how it is really tough for toddlers, but you have to be prepared for flight attendants to enforce the rules. Good luck!

I'd encourage you to confirm your email settings in your SW account. My Account > Profile > Communications. You should also check your SPAM, of course -- which you prob have. Additionally, you can add southwestairlines@ifly.southwest.com to your safe senders list. This is the email from which confirmations come. Good luck!

@chgoflyer: "I would say that the specific mention of "award travel" (flights booked with points) in the main copy (not the terms and conditions) would mean that points flights count." Agreed -- I am chasing this promo, and while I used travel funds for one round trip, I am planning on booking the other with points as I also read that they will count.
