Does he have a Rapid Rewards # associated with his ticket? If so, you can sign out of the SW app and sign in with his credentials. Once signed in, you’ll be able to get the boarding pass and save it to your wallet. It’s a process, but it works! Otherwise, you can visit here and enter his info to walk thru the check in process and obtain the boarding bag pass. Good luck!

@aimeec, sorry that it did not work the way you expected. Did you think about buying two one-way tickets instead of a round trip? One with voucher, one with points? I have a boat load of travel funds, and figured out that I could use more of them booking tickets that way. Keep in mind that even using points, there will still be money due for the taxes and fees (typically $5.60 each direction).

This may be true for some routes, but I find that SW suits my business travel really well. For me personally, the prices are generally very competitive. One of my team member had a round trip flight for $150 recently on a route where no other airline offers a direct route. So even when fares are a little more, I have to consider: extra fees other airlines would charge: baggage, change, cancellation does SW get me there direct? SW may not be the cheapest every time, but even when the cost is a little more, I make it work for me to save on fees and to have more flexibility than I would with any other airline. Fortunately, my employer lets me make those cost/benefit decisions. As was mentioned, when you consider all these things, if you find another airline that fits your travels better, totally understandable. I know SW will be glad to have your business anytime it works for you.

@mcalhoun I am so sorry to hear about your bad experience with the customer service. I have the number at 1 (800) 435-9792 and see if you can talk to someone about problem that you had. For some apparently reasons, the agents may not have time to deal with the customers and you also can call 1-855-234-4654 and see if they can resolve the issues. Hope this will helps.

@kcjude15 wrote: Can I get points for a hotel stay from last month? I know I used my Rapid Rewards credit card for the purchase, but can't remember if I gave them my number. In addition to the other posters' information, the change wouldn't generally be retroactive as the choice (where available) to make the stay earn Southwest RR points may affect the room price slightly - so the answer is probably "no" for a past stay, but "yes" for future stays if you confirm the intention to earn Southwest points in the future. Flights are retroactive - these are under Southwest's direct control and the price doesn't change whether you had rapid rewards or not - they can go back and apply flight credits after the fact up to six months or a year.

You can call the cutomer service number at 1 (800) 435-9792 or (214) 792-4000 or write it to: Southwest Airlines Co. 2702 Love Field Drive. Dallas, Texas 75235. Hope this will helps.

@lostmydog wrote: Hi - I just want to make sure I am looking at this the right way regarding qualifying for a companion pass via flights ( non credit card points). My work will pay for business select ticket class. So to get a companion pass I have to purchase 18 tickets/segments at let's say $500 per ticket which gets me 12x points for a total of 108k Rapid Reward points? I travel a lot for work between Hou and LGA/DAL so this is not crazy. Just looking to see if this correct and has any one else done this? Appreciate the feed back. Be well, Mo Additionally if you have a Southwest Rapid Rewards Visa you would get 1x points for all purchases, and 1x points for all purchases on Southwest.com on that card, as well as some other perks. (In effect the 12x would be 14x towards companion pass.) I'd strongly consider getting one if you plan to fly that much and purchase those fares, even if all you use it for is Southwest flights. A-list is separate only for the flights, that will remain at 12x for business select fares but based on your pricing and frequency above you'd easily make A-list Preferred as well at some point during the year.

Yeah that doesn’t sound right. She should be able to get her own. The only reason I could think that might throw that off is if she is an authorized user on your card??? Either way, I think it is worth a call to Chase to clarify. Let us know what you find out, pls.

There is still no definitive answer for this. The government shutdown delayed the regulatory process, but you can read here that SW has completed its first test flight to Hawaii. It is very likely that we will see an announcement for when the flights will launch very soon, but that is just my opinion. Keep in mind that another possible shutdown could further delay the approval process. Feel free to Google Southwest Air Hawaii to read all the press coverage and speculation. You can also find SW's official Hawaii page here.

You may use the Companion Pass when it is earned through Dec 31 of the year it expires. This could land a few different ways. If you get the current Rapid Rewards Chase promo, that comes with CP through the end of this year -- 2019. You must travel by that time, so no, you would not be able to book for travel next year. If you earn the CP the normal way, you get it from when you qualify through the end of the next calendar year and can use the pass at any point during that time. The short answer is that it has to be used by the expiration date that appears on the Companion Pass. Hope that helps!

@adabie wrote: Well I thought this was resolved. But, when I logged in this month all my Rewards for Opinions points were in Companion Pass Qualifying Points. Any idea why? In a discussion elsewhere, customers noted that they are receiving CPQ points for Rewards for Opinions participation. Rewards for Opinions is part of e-Rewards, which is specifically noted in the RR terms and conditions as being non-CPQ. So it's unclear why they're showing up as CPQ. My best guess is it's an inadvertent oversight, but some believe that it's because Rewards for Opinions isn't specifically disallowed in the way e-Rewards is. This could change at any time, of course. But for now, enjoy! 😉

When it's winter and I'm skiing, I'm on a 12 days in Colorado and 9 days in Texas regimen - Catching a DAL flight early Monday morning so I can ski on Monday, and 12 days later catching a late flight Friday out of DEN so I can ski on Friday . Rinse and repeat all winter... So I ski 10 out of 12 days (never on weekends and holidays) and then rest for 9 days not this year due to back trouble.. oh well....

Are we talking like, half the plane is already full when you board? This is a great discussion board, I appreciate everybody's knowledge and enthusiasm! I imagine I'll probably be back again some time. Happy I was able to book with Southwest! Mike Mike, there is no rule of thumb answer to that question. It is dependent on departure city, destnation city, time of year, time of day etc, etc, etc. Given your situation, I think the answer is "not normally enough to impact you." given that there are 40 plus or minus windows seats on a plane and window seats fill up later than aisles and earlier than middle seats. Your greater risk is getting a high B or C boarding position. Again, given your situation, I think you should go for pre boarding, but it's your choice. I think you'll be fine, but if you decide to request pre-boarding once or twice this year as a fellow passenger I wouldn't feel put out at all. One scenario for high through passengers is service to a regional airport. Southwest in prior years had run a sort of a "wheel" where flights went from HOU-PNS-BNA and a separate route was going BNA-PNS-HOU. There seemed to be a large number of people that needed to get between BNA and HOU and either a lack of direct flights or other connections so that the planes going in and out of PNS were always full, but only half to 2/3 were going to PNS. There might also be flights going to LAS or MCO that originate at an airport with limited service and then stops in a larger hub like MDW or DEN and people stay on the plane. One way to avoid these is that you can check the flight number in Google (or flight aware or other tracking sites) and tell that the flight number continues all day, or if it originates at your home airport. Then, as a tie-breaker only because none of us think this is a big deal overall, you could prefer flight numbers that originate at your airport if the timing is comparable when choosing between a couple of options that work for you.

If the flight was lightly occupied then I would recommend to check with the FA about relocating. You could also mention to the gentleman to swap seats so he's on the window and you and your co-worker wouldn't have that between you.

Most people use their state-issued driver's license, a few people have passports, and a Global Entry card is also accepted by TSA (they issue that one themselves). However for any international visitors the passport may be one of the most reliable methods. Thanks for the clarification.I never considered that the OP might be international Many people don't even have a passport (or Global Entry card) so I was wondering if there was an angle to it not yet mentioned. If so - definitely passport. I mean you would need to have it on you anyway right, since it is your "receipt" for coming through customs? If not - pick any one of state-issued ID, passport, or Global Entry card as @dfwskier mentioned, there's no preference among those by TSA. Of course if you are renting a car while traveling, you'll need your driver's license.

Not to beat a dead horse, but here was another article on the topic. I guess United canceled a huge chunk of its flights at O'Hare as well. https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/airlines-resorting-to-extraordinary-measures-to-protect-airport-workers-in-extreme-cold/ar-BBSVESn?ocid=spartanntp Agreed, if they start canceling en masse, then usually there will also be a storm advisory where you can move up your flight, but that may not work if your route is already busy and there aren't any empty seats. Good luck, I hope you make it on schedule Friday at least and get this ordeal put behind you.

Adding to what elijah said --- all Southwest flights in Denver are out of the C concouse, but it is a long concourse, so I'd allow 10 minutes from one side to the other -- even using the moving sidewalks that cover much of the terrain. Of course, you might not have to walk that far. Southwest wouldn't sell you a ticket containing a 50 minute conection unless it thought you could make the conection. It's called a legal connection. So if you're flight into DEN is on time, you should be fine. That being said, you'dhave 20 minutes to exit the arriving aircraft and get to the departing aircraft before that aircraft starts boarding 30 minutes pre departure time. If you have a A boarding position and you arrive at the gate after boarding begins, you might lose some of the advantage of an A boarding spot. Thus, the recommendation would be to try to get a seat as near the front as possible of the aircraft into Denver so that you can get off that aircraft earlier. You'll likely make your connection.. The question is what kind of seat will you have.

Perfect - that will be the widest area of the plane. I wanted to clarify for the other readers that you felt your seat was snug, and that was in the widest part of the plane in case they end up in the slightly narrower seats towards the front. If they have a similar car seat, head to the middle.

Dancing David - yes! That's what I was asking about. We have already mapped out 3 trips for 2019 due to the CP and being wcoast folks. And then possibly Hawaii when they launch. So personally crunching numbers for a living, I think the math calcs out that we will benefit from the CP but you're right by June or July we should either love it or hate it. I would love to keep earning it each year but I know it's hard to keep the spend up. Thanks for breaking it out clearer than I apparently was!

The interpretation is that points are only earned when Chase sends the request to Southwest, and that only happens when a statement closes. Southwest does not have any access to your account to know the "live" status or that you've made any payment to Chase. Edit: You don't actually have to have paid the statement to get the points, the points are earned on the statement closing. But no, you would not be able to rack up the charges, pay them in advance, and then earn CP earlier.
