I did not see them in the forum : 1 - How can I get my Southwest Account name to match what I have just submitted to TSA Pre-Check and will it take affect in time for a flight on 12/26/18? To clarify on this one, changing your name on the account to match is a good idea, but won't retroactively change on tickets already purchased. If the two names aren't the same then you may struggle to have PreCheck on this particular flight. If you use Twitter you may want to reach out to @SouthwestAir to initiate a discussion about sycnchronizing, or call. Don't send your confirmation number or name until they ask for a direct message. Do you know that the two names are different in some way? 2 - How do I get my TSA KTN added to my Southwest Account and will it take affect in time for a flight 12/26/18? You'll have to calll, Twitter, or have it added at the ticket counter on your day of flight to add it retroactively to already purchased tickets. The name also has to match for this to work. 3 - Early Bird options. Traveling 12/26/18. We did not pay for EB at ticket purchase. For the best que placement should I ........ a) proceed with purchasing EB today? or b) just board with the family's after A since we are traveling with a 5yo child? As the others mentioned, the EBCI may or may not improve you over the family boarding. How many family members are traveling? Most likely family boarding would be fine, equivalent to position "A-61."

That’s too bad, the process is well setup not to make the purchases over $1,000 - ironically we hear about so many people that want the bonus to come faster trying to beat the deadline. let us know how it goes. I hope it can be resolved.

@LindseyD wrote: @chgoflyer, what you've said is correct. If the reservation straddles two years, the flights will be applied to the years to which they correspond. If they are on the same reservation, the TQP from the outbound flight will be retroactively applied after the return flight is completed. Hey, Lindsey! Thanks for the info. But... that's actually not what I'm saying. I'm saying the opposite. 😉 For many years, people have used a "hack" to move points into the upcoming year, vs earning them in the current one. (A primary reason would be if you wanted TQPs or CPQPs in the new year vs the current one, for example.) This involved booking a round trip with an outbound in the current year and the return in the following one. Southwest's system grants points upon the completion of the full itinerary, and (previously at least) those points from both flights would then be earned in, and apply to, the new year. I haven't actually used this "hack" myself for several years, but discussion about it other places on the web indicate people still do, and that the belief is that it still works. It sounds like you're saying that this is no longer the case? And now, in this scenario, the points will count for qualification in the year the flight was taken? Or, are you talking about qualification via flight segments, not points? (You mentioned "TQP" which leads me to believe you mean points.)

@elijahbrantley wrote: A List qualifying points are earned from paid flights and from credit card BONUS points only. From SW's site: "Tier qualifying points are earned from revenue flights booked through Southwest Airlines® or through the use of the Rapid Rewards® Priority or Premier Credit Cards (1,500 tier qualifying points for every $10,000 in eligible net purchases on that card, up to 15,000 tier qualifying points per year)." All credit card points do count toward Companion Pass qualification. To be clear, credit card bonus points are not A-List qualifying. ("Bonus points" are ones received from things like sign-up bonuses, annual anniversary, special bonus offers, etc.) The only credit card points that are A-List qualifying are as you mentioned (but which are not referred to as "bonus" points): Rapid Rewards® Priority or Premier Credit Cards (1,500 tier qualifying points for every $10,000 in eligible net purchases on that card, up to 15,000 tier qualifying points per year) Note that these "points" aren't actually redeemable, they are just a special accounting category of tier-qualifying points. When you earn these points, in your RR account you'll see them listed and "Credit Card" points, with a value of 0. If you filter by "Tier Qualifying Points" you'll see them itemized with a value of 1,500.

@rachellake - I understand your frustration! I have had this happen with SW before as well, and it caused me to change how I travel to certain frequent business destinations. With that said, I have also experienced the opposity: a destination that only had one-stop routes became non-stop. Jackpot! SW ( and other airliens) change their routes based on many factors. Unfortunately, there may not be one specific answer in this case. If you would like to discuss the matter further with SW, I recommend reaching out to them directly here.

Good point @dfwskier...your flight bonus points would be applied when you take the flight, so no need to worry about the bonus for next year.

Sorry, but no one will be able to guarantee when points will hit your account. It varies by property. A $1000 busness select flight will earn you 12,000 points. You might want to contingency plan a year end points run in case you need it. You can always cancel a business slect flight and get your money back. If you get to that point, you have to ask yourself a question: will I get more value in 2019 from the CP than the $1000 in am spending in 2018?

It's frustrating when your go-to flights change their schedule; sometimes the demand for other areas or the bulk of passengers don't fit our travel ideal schedules very well! I travel from BNA to CLT a lot, and they schedules have adjusted many times over the last several months. I am currently at the airport now at 10:35pm waiting for my delayed 11:50pm departure; not ideal, but I choose to take it because it is direct and because it is the only option besides early in the day. So I totally appreciate your position and feedback! With that said, since this is a customer forum, I would recommend reaching out to SW directly to provide the feedback. Twitter at @southwestair is a good option, or you can find the Contact Us page on southwest.com. Also, some of the connection options go through Denver or Las Vegas. While you may not care to connect, Denver is not very much out of the way; that might be your best bet if you want to avoid United!

Plus, connecting thru any wagers in the NE or thru MDW in the winter is always a risk! Have you checked for flights connecting thru DAL, HOU, DEN, or PHX? Given SW’s large operations at these airports (that are either very reasonably sized or contained within one concourse of a larger airport), these are more centrally located. With that said, given SW’s presence at MDW and BWI, I’m sure we will still see those as popular connection airports. At least BWI has good food options??? 🙂

You will not have to go through security again on the way to Jamaica. You can connect directly from your incoming flight onto the Jamaica one. With that said, you will have to clear the proper security procedures when you arrive back into the US from Jamaica before getting on any domestic connections.

I read a horror story reguarding Delta and the Charles de Gaulle airport and wanted to make sure that Southwest would allow me to check it. Thanks. Hello. I am unfamiliar with the Frakta, however, members of the military use duffles as luggage all the time. If your bag is simiarly sturdy, you should be fine. If it isn't, probably not.

This has been extensively discussed on this site, and I doubt we will see much change around the preboarding process. I am right there with you in that I travel frequently, but when I find myself growing impatient, I always remind myself that we can’t always see a disability or know the whole situation. To your first suggestion, I really like the idea of limiting the number of folks that can board with a preboarder. Given that I am AList Preferred and cannot board with my family unless I take a worse boarding spot, it does bother me when a large family boards with a preborder. I don’t know where to draw the line, but it is frustrating. To your second suggestion, this seems problematic because it a) would complicate (slow) the process of folks getting off the plane, making flight attendants have to police what could be volatile situations and b) punishes folks with legitimate preboarding needs. Across my hundreds of SW flights over many years, I can honestly say that I have never lost more than about a minute of my time waiting for someone to get in a wheelchair. Making wheelchair-bound passengers wait would add unnecessary stress and shame. Just thinking out loud here...

@rpoplin wrote: Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I need to look at best option for future travel. Lucky that only one flight was book via payment, the others have been points so I assume if I paid using my points they would be credited back to my account. Correct, if you cancel a points booking the points will be returned to your account. This is a great way to "hold a spot" for a future companion. You'll have to call to make a direct swap if the flight is sold out. Otherwise if there are tickets for sale, you can cancel and then add companion. Note: you can't hold both for any significant duration of time, so don't add companion and then cancel the points booking some days later as the software may flag you for double-booking the same passenger and cancel one or both.
