Southwest is notoriously bad in IROPS. It was said that the new booking system would help, but right now it's made things worse. I'm not super confident things will ever improve.

Are you outside the US? Southwest blocks website access to many outside the US. If so, you have to call. 😞

Correct. EBCI cannot be added to a group reservation. To my knowledge, it's never been available. Since Southwest uses EBCI as a profit center, I'm not sure of the reason they are denying that additional money... but it's most likely a system limitation, that may someday be "fixed."

In order to count, the 10 one-way flights must have been purchased, not Points bookings. Chase no longer routinely sends drink coupons to card holders.

The card mailer is pretty generic and generally doesn't mention the specific offer. Contact Chase to verify the offer attached to your account.

If not given the option to refund the security fees/taxes when cancelling (on any itinerary where a change was previously made, plus many random "glitches") then the fees/taxes are held as travel funds under the confirmation number of the cancelled flight. You apply them as a payment method when rebooking. They are subject to the same rules as all travel funds -- valid for one year from the date of purchase for the originally ticketed passenger only. One exception: You can call Customer Relations prior to departure and request a refund back to original purchase method. EarlyBird Check-In is not refundable when the customer cancels, but does survive if you make an itinerary change (unless, of course, "glitch"). If you just need to cancel a WGA fare and aren't yet ready to rebook, instead of cancelling just use the change function to rebook as a "dummy" flight -- any flight in the future that's for the same or less fare. Then change that flight when you know your travel plans. This will retain EBCI instead of losing it. 😉

Chase used to send them annually around your card anniversary date, but stopped doing that. They now send them to a small number of customers on "milestone" anniversary dates.

I'm not sure why you think it's misleading. It's pretty clear: EarlyBird Check-In assigns your position at T-36, ahead of everyone who has to manually get theirs at T-24. Boarding passes can be accessed beginning at T-24, which will include your already-assigned position. EBCI fails often enough through things like the infamous Southwest "glitch," but this is simply you not understanding how it works. 😉

Unfortunately, as has been mentioned before, the Southwest app requires Android 5.0 and up. The current version of Android is 7.1.2, meaning that 4.x.x. is three generations old at this point. For older phones running older versions of Android, your best bet is to use the mobile website via browser.

Southwest ending service at two of three Cuban cities Despite earlier stating that customers who had already booked wouldn't be affected, and that flights to Cuba through the end of the schedule would operate normally, Southwest has now announced they will end service to Varadero and Santa Clara on Sept. 4. 😞 Hopefully someone official will post here and let customers know how refunds will be handled.

Yes they do. The fee is 1 cent per point to transfer, 3 cents per point to gift.

Unfortunately, Southwest charges a fee to gift or transfer your points to anyone else, and those fees eat up much of the value of the points themselves. The fee to transfer your points to someone else is 1 cent per point. "Gifting" points is the term Southwest uses when you buy new points for another person. That fee is 3 cents a point. In general, it's not a good deal to buy/transefer or gift points. Maybe you have enough to pay for a one-way flight for her?

You should probably look up the word, "disingenuous." I do not think that word means what you think it means. Following your logic: If you want to save a seat on Southwest, you say, "This seat is saved." If someone want's to take it, but doesn't because someone is saving it, then that saved seat has been successfully saved.

And the times when it fails called "unsuccessful seat saving." And the times when it works called "successful seat saving." So, today, onboard Southwest thousands of flights, which do you think happened more?

Ah! Eureka. I knew you'd eventually get it. Customers can save seats. Your earlier statements that, "there is no seat saving on Southwest," were wrong.

I wasn't specifically referencing preboarding, only seat saving. Entitlement refers to a person feeling they have a right to something, often privledges or special treatment. In the case of seat saving, the right to save seats is granted by Southwest. To anyone who want's to use it. In some cases -- the saving of a middle seat next to a companion, for example -- it ultimately isn't much of a privlege. Middle seats aren't special. In the case of saving say, an entire row... or a bulkhead or exit row seat, then there is definitely a special treatment earned by those who excersise the right to save a seat, and it's often at the expense of someone else. And that's unfortunate. And I agree that the entitled are more likely to do these things. But, ultimately, these things are allowed by Southwest. There is no rule against it and no action is taken by the carrier to prevent it.

If, by referencing Schrödinger's Cat you mean to imply that a seat is both saved and not saved at the same time, then we are getting slightly closer to an understanding, as this obviously negates your position that it is only one way, and not the other. As I've tried again and again to get you to see, it's both. Saying that "there is no seat saving on Southwest" is incorrect. The statement that, "I can take any seat that someone is trying to save," does not negate this. There is always the possibility that someone is trying to save more seats than you or anyone will be able to take away from them. Is there seat saving on Southwest? Yes. Can someone try to take a seat away from a seat saver on Southwest? Yes.

Someone is saving a row of seats, and you come up and take one of them. They have still successfully saved at least one other seat. You've failed to stop them from saving a seat. It has been proven time and time again -- you can save a seat on Southwest.

It's not entitlement IF THE AIRLINE ALLOWS IT. SOUTHWEST ALLOWS SEAT SAVING. I wish they had a tighter policy about it, but they don't. Your opinion changes nothing.

You asked for the Southwest definition of "open" in a public forum. If you don't want responses from other members of the forum, I'd suggest you contact Southwest directly. FYI: There is no prohibition on this forum that restricts people from reading threads that contain questions they "don't like." Lastly, even if I wanted to, it's pretty hard to read this forum and ignore your comments when you reopen dozens of old posts to comment on. 😉
