Southwest Airlines Employees are known around the nation for putting their Hearts into action during everyday life and, most importantly, during times of need. As we come together as a nation, and frankly, a global population, there’s never been a time when we need to showcase our love, support, and friendship toward one another than today. As such, we are doing our part to help give back to communities that we serve.

Southwest recently announced a major donation of $400,000 in snacks and other inflight provisioning items to dozens of food pantries across the country. And, we’re seeing some of our top corporate Customers giving back. One global organization, Deloitte, recently donated more than $130,000 they had in unused travel funds to the University of California’s academic health systems to support the travel of medical personnel in California to the frontlines. The money will be used to pay for the transportation of doctors, nurses, and other teams to-and-from the six University of California health systems, where their expertise to fight COVID-19 is needed the most.

As a Senior Director on our Southwest Business Team, I’m so proud of my Team and the meaningful corporate travel relationships they have created over the years that allowed us this unique opportunity to support this humanitarian effort. It’s these partnerships that truly bring us together in ways we never thought were possible.

I applaud everyone who is giving back in their own way to help their neighbors, their communities, and the nation fights this virus and stay healthy.
