At PCI (Project Concern International), we believe in giving people the tools they need to transform their own lives.  This allows them to build a truly sustainable future for themselves that would not have been possible otherwise. While our organization is based in San Diego, we are currently operating in 15 countries, where we focus on preventing disease, ensuring maternal and child health, improving food security and livelihoods, and providing humanitarian assistance.  Closer to San Diego, PCI has facilitated programs in eight colonias in Tijuana and has operated a national tuberculosis prevention program in Mexico.  In San Diego, PCI supports low-income women throughout their pregnancies to ensure the health of their newborns as part of its “Healthy Start” program.  We also recently implemented women-led savings groups through the Women Empowered (WE) Initiative, targeting three of San Diego’s most vulnerable communities: East African, Latina, and Filipina immigrants and refugees.

While our roots are in San Diego, the work we carry out locally has a broad impact on vulnerable communities on both sides of the border.  At our Hands Across Borders Gala in the fall, we celebrated empowered individuals who are committed to social change, and the dreamers who are transforming lives in the world’s poorest communities. We are proud to work with sponsors like Southwest Airlines that support us in our mission to change the lives of millions of people around the world.
