As the official "Marketing Girl" for Albuquerque, I'm super excited to introduce you to Matt Plowman. Matt is moving to Albuquerque to manage our Albuquerque Reservations Center. He started with Southwest years ago as a Reservation Sales Agent and has worked his way up to Center Leader. He lives the Southwest Way with a Warrior Spirit, a Servant's Heart, and a Fun-LUVing attitude. Matt's father was in the Air Force, so he has lived all over the United States. He was born in Missouri and has made stops in California, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Alabama, Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. With three young kids, his favorite Southwest City is Orlando, the location of the family's favorite place on earth, Walt Disney World. You might catch him shouting "BOOMER SOONER!" as he roots on the University of Oklahoma. (On a personal note, OU is my second favorite college team. Being that I'm a Tennessee fan in Big 12 country, I usually share in Sooner talk over the water cooler.) If you were to search Matt's iPod, you might find a number of songs by BNL, the Barenaked Ladies, as they are his favorite musical group. As with most Southwest Employees and Customers, Matt enjoys travel.  I asked Matt the following: What is the best advice you ever received? "To be myself and the sky is the limit." What is the best advice you ever given? "To have fun with whatever you do and enjoy the People around you." Matt, Welcome Back to ABQ!

Hello from the Oklahoma City Reservation Center. Matthew just left us to go home to ABQ. We miss him terribly but will remember what a great leader he is. They are lucky to have him. P.S. Don't leave your cell phones laying around anywhere near him.....you might just find it loitering in the ceiling tiles. Love you lots, Robin

Wow! It's great to have you back in Albuquerque, where your Southwest career began! And it's especially wonderful to have the remaining 3 grandkids here -- now all 7 grandkids live in town!! Wonder if you'll be able to root for those UNM Lobos now that Steve Alford is the new basketball coach? You can still root for the Sooners, except against Missouri! Love, Your proud Dad

Best of luck on your new position, maybe you can presuade the boys in scheduling to give SMF a non-stop so we can come to DAL on only a one stop. Also why can't we fly SWA from ABQ to DEN yet?

Thank you all for the warm wishes and congratulations. I am excited about being back in ABQ and working with such a great group of people - and being back with our families is wonderful. Personally, I would luv if we added nonstops from ABQ to DEN and SMF (and OKC too so it would be easier to get back there and watch the Sooners win the National Champioship in football this year)....Thanks again everyone for the posts. Matt, Congratulations on your new assignment! My wife has family in ABQ and I have great memories of visits to your new home. Last fall, I spent one afternoon enjoying the Sandia Peak Tram experience during a break in a convention, and wandering through some of the tourist shops in Old Town is a must! If you're a Mexican food fan, try Los Cuates on Lomas. However, as much as I'm happy for your transfer, I am from THIS side of the Red River, and along with a healthy dose of Southwest Canyon Blue in my system, I do have burnt-orange blood. So, as far as I'm concerned, you don't need to worry about any trips back to Norman, since the Sooners ain't gonna win the National Championship! LOL Hook 'em Horns, Kim 🙂

Matt, CONGRATS!!! You are a perfect example of what I imagine a Southwest employee to be. The reason I say imagine is b/c I don't work for Southwest.(Yet) I am currently employed by O.U. as a pseudo pilot in OKC @ the F.A.A.. I found this site by Googling any key phrases I could to get info. on the available shifts; unpaid training schedule; or any details for a Reservation Sales Agent not listed in the careers portion of Southwest's website. It has been my dream for many yrs. to work for such a phenomenal company.I desperately need details because I have two young sons who are in school. If you or anyone you know in OKC could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!!!!!!!! tazammo-emily@yahoo.com Thanks Again, Emily

Matt, for ABQ: how about bringing back a dedicated kiosk for departing passengers needing a printed boarding pass who have NO baggage? (Place it away from all the other kiosks, perhaps near the windows fronting the curb, as ABQ used to have.) In SoCal, all airports have these (and they are very convenient). During peak times, it is very hard to squeeze in front of the long line just to (re)print a boarding pass, and the baggage-laden passengers squawk about your 'cutting' in front of them.

Terry, When we had a boarding pass kiosk it was only used 10-20 times during the day. Compared to usage of the full-service kiosk, it wasn't effective for us to continue with a boarding pass only kiosk. For Customers like you, we have line at the left end of the ticket counter that can help you with only a boarding pass. Check it out next time you are flying out of ABQ. Thanks for flying Southwest!
