At Southwest, we’re known for rising to the occasion. When it comes to appreciating the military, Southwest often stands front and center. As a military veteran myself, I take a lot of pride in that.
We were honored and privileged to be challenged by AT&T to #GiveThem20 and raise awareness about hiring military veterans. We are one of the best military-friendly employers in the country, and over 14% of our workforce has a military background.
On Monday afternoon, we asked a team of fresh Southwest Employees to join us in our training facility. Once there, they cheered on fellow Southwest Employees (including myself) who formed a heart around some other special People—members of our Southwest Family who have served our great country.
For 20 push-ups, our Southwest Heart literally beat for all military members past, present, and future. Our efforts don’t stop with recruitment and a few push-ups. We are proud to partner with national and local military-focused organizations.
