Southwest Intends to Serve Four Hawaii Airports

Today, Southwest Airlines announces our intent to serve Honolulu, HI (Oahu); Kahului, HI (Maui); Kona, HI (Island of Hawaii); Lihue, HI (Kauai). While we do not yet have details to share on exact dates or routes, they do represent our initial footprints and top priorities for the soonest service in the State of Hawaii.

Fun fact: did you know each island has its own personality? Oahu can energize, Maui will captivate, Island of Hawaii inspires, and Kauai just might rejuvenate you. There’s so much beauty to discover on each of the destinations—which island are you the most excited to explore? Or, for those Hawaii regulars, which location is calling you back?

Additional details will be coming soon, so continue to check back for announcements on mainland gateways, future schedules, and more! Mahalo!

It is so hard to find seats together for our large family on any other airline—we love Southwest for that and many other reasons! Our kids fly with us all the time and they can’t wait to make it to the islands. We have been anxiously awaiting any and all news on when we can begin booking to Hawaii for a family vacation. Fingers crossed that it will be soon!

Cannot wait. My daughter is in the military stationed there and I'd love to surprise her with a visit!!! Haven't seen her in over a year! 😞

This is starting to get frustrating. Can you please provide an update on Hawaii service as you have loyal SWA’ers that want to make plans and my choose other carriers. Thanks.

I've been watching and waiting since I got first wind of SW additional flights!  SW is my all time favorite airline!  Keep up the awesome customer service!

The local news channel in LA just reported Southwest is NOW flying to Hawaii.   I rushed to my computer to check it out and book a trip and still nothing.   Fake news?   LOL

Southwest will come in with lower fares and Hawaiian and others will have to match them.  I predict intro $99.00 one way fares (you heard it here first  Smiley Very Happy  ).  But when the dust settles...SW  will probably end up having the same airfares to the mainland as all the others. And that goes for inter-island as well.  And Hawaii has never had assigned seating on inter-island flights until Hawaiian Airlines became a monopoly. So Hawaiians are very use to the concept. What "will" make Southwest very popular here is their policy of no change or baggage fees.  Will the other airlines match those policies? I don't think so.

Do you know when the flights to Lihue will be going on sale? I only see Oahu, Maui and Kona?

Inter-island fares went on sale today also. $29.00 one way but have to be purchased by tomorrow night.  And it's only between Honolulu and Maui and Honolulu and Kona. No Hilo or Kauai.  Smiley Frustrated
