THE BIG 4 OH!!!

Hello bloggers of this great universe, Happy New Year. I would like to take this time to reflect on the year that has passed and say that I'm very thankful for the year that was 2006. You see, I will always remember 2006 as the last year of my 30s. Now that I'm considered "over the hill" (I turned 40 the day after Christmas), I wonder what I'm supposed to do now? Do I use my recliner more than just on the weekend to watch sports? When will I wake up and need reading glasses to read the morning newspaper? When will my kids start calling me "their old man" when talking to their friends? (As if they don't do it now.) Oh well...while I'm waiting for these questions to be answered I'll just live life to the fullest.

Gordon, you could go the recliner route, if so I suggest the Al Bundy look. When I passed 40 I chose to prove that I was not old and decrepit (my children response was "Your not old mom") by hiking the Grand Canyon. Now the question, can I continue these long hikes or is it truly all downhill from here?

Gosh... why ever would you be considered over the hill? With today's life expectancy, you are in your prime, and still have longer to go than what you have lived! And do remember that you work for a company that values "mature" people as much as the enthousiasm of youth, and some of Southwest's "new starts" are your age or older! It is all in the mind, and as long as you are having fun, you'll remain young! :o)

Ohhh, I dread turning 40! I'm 30 now (my birthday is in July), & I seriously feel old! I don't feel it mentally or physically, but still, I don't feel young anymore. Hopefully, when I turn 40 (& 45, 50, & so on), that I'll still look younger than I am! 🙂

P.S. Gordon, I just looked at your picture. You look like you're in your early 30s! 🙂

G....there's NO way you could be the big 40. You look fabulous, and there's no way you are a recliner slob. Sorry to tell you but the reading glasses are just around the corner. You'll wake up one day , start reading the newspaper, and then realize that your arms just aren't long enough.

Just think of it this way....40's are the new 30's. That's how I look at it.

For any of you who haven't hit 40 yet - beware - after the 40, you WON'T be able to bounce back from hangovers like you use too. Otherwise I think life is great after 40. I would never want to go back to my 20's and 30's - life keeps getting better as you get older...............................

I have to agree with Tommy Blog - each day I get older I thank goodness I don't have to revisit the past! I am as my dad says "on the backside of 30" and I've decided to start doing the things I've always wanted to do - some are inspired by "Before I'm 40 I want to..." but for the most part...I'm looking forward to the day! Life does get better, maybe because our eyes don't see the imperfections and our brains won't let us remember 'em - so enjoy this year...if you are really looking for something to do, complete a marathon. That's my resolution for this year! Happy Birthday and Congratulations! Jenny Frasco

PLEASE go to assigned seating--it's time to make that move--people are SO rude now in trying to get "up front" in the A or B lines. Thanks

Old is your age plus 20.. So you are not old, yet.. Enjoy it and look forward to the big 5-0! That's when life really begins!

I feel it is outrageous that Southwest Airlines is still only taking reservation through May 10th. Today is January 26th...That meants a potential customer is limited to booking out a mear 104 days (not even 4 month). At this time, I am left with no alternative but to purchase my tickets from U.S.Airways. Fortunately, Philadelphia is a U.S. Airways Hub, and their airline allows the customer to book up to 1 year out. I am sure you "HAD" many other Philadelphia based customers that were left with no other alternative but to pay more to your competition in order to assure their travel plans. My feeling is this, your company spends a tremendous amount of money with TV ads ("you are now free to move about the country"), but you do not follow through on your commitment to the travleing public. You do not allow your customers make proper and necessary travel arrangements. The management at Southwest desperatly needs to be evaluated!
