Concur with all the other post.
Open seating is one of the things that makes Southwest...Southwest. Looks like SWA will start charging for some (hmm) of their seats. Again, a huge reason I mainly fly SWA (their seats are free). Don't like paying for my seats. Also know that anytime I fly SWA, I can have the chance to get on early (A30 e.g.). Which makes for getting the seat I want. Don't know about the chemist, but I am way north of 6' tall. The aisle seat is the only seat that works for me (the middle seat is a non-starter). Along with the exit seats (first class to me). First class to me. Unlike some of the other airlines where there is less room between seats.
So, I definite prefer open seating to assigned seating.
