Perhaps it is time for Southwest to buy one A321 and fly it on one of its routes for a period of time.  I think it burns more fuel, but an E195 doesn't seat enough passengers.

A220, A320, and A321 are all sold out for years into the future. Trying one and then not being able to fly a :flyablr size fleet" doesn't do a whole lot of good. 

 

I supect SW already knows all the specs on all 3 plwne.

Yeah, delivery delay is a problem.  I figure wet-lease one plane from ALC and fly with a type-certified pilot and first officer with a Southwest pilot in the jump seat taking notes.

 

On the flip side, some A321s come with Pratt & Whitney engines which have had problems.  Leap would be better.

 

But, we've seen companies go toxic over the years.  When Alan Mulally wasn't selected as CEO of Boeing and he went to Ford, I sold my Boeing stock.  You could see what was coming.
