As someone who follows Southwest's route network changed as best as I can, I would agree that it appears that Seattle has been downsized. But Southwest is extremely unlikely to be pulling out of Seattle entirely. It's likely that the competition with both Alaska and Delta has been tough and they've decided to put their limited planes on other more profitable routes. Southwest is still rebuilding post pandemic and with a slew of new airports to the network, they're trying to mature those markets while rebuild. In doing so, they try to put the planes where they will be most profitable. It'll probably take some time, but I think it's likely Southwest will add frequencies back to Seattle once they have the resources and it makes sense for their own profitability.

Im curious as to how southwest is doing with their mainland to Hawaii flights?? Over the past 2 years many of southwests Hawaii to mainland flights have been axed.
It would be nice to see non stop service from burbank,California to honolulu and Maui on southwest airlines.
BUR is so small. I'm just a fellow passenger but I see it being so valuable for people traveling around California and nearby parts I don't foresee it being a Hawaii gateway due to the limited number of gates when there are other alternatives in the area.

Southwest is short of planes and crew, so it can not provide all the service that everyone wants.
The only thing anyone outside the airline knows for sure is that there is no service on the dates you listed. You could always tell the airline that you'd like to see service restored. To do that, click on "contact us" below and proceed.

ah, ad hominem is one way to go I suppose. Strawman argument is another. No one said SWA is unaffected by industry wide problems. Enjoy your flights.

I have always wondered why southwest never offered bur or lax non stop to sea??
The non-stop flights from sea to smf, oak and sjc are always full and southwest keeps adding more non stop seattle flights to these 3 cities.
Southwest flies non stop from sea to phx, las, oak, smf and sjc frequently.
I've always wondered that too and part of it is because of a lack of planes and crew. This fall Southwest is resuming flights between Portland, OR and both LAX and SAN. I wondered why they don't go further up to Seattle. For one, Seattle is a hub for both Alaska and Delta. Even Delta has struggled with Alaska being like 2.5x larger, it's so hard to compete with them. A lot of people in Seattle have the Alaska rewards program which makes it harder other airlines to "steal" those passengers.
Southwest flies frequently to PHX, LAS, OAK, SMF, and SJC because they are large airports for Southwest where they have the largest market share.

Southwest also needs more
Southwest also needs more what?
You can request the route through social media or through the Contact Us link below.
If you're so keen on a nonstop to SoCal, you can fly Alaska, Delta, American, United, JetBlue (resuming in October). Otherwise if Southwest's connection through the Bay Area is the cheapest, I wouldn't complain and just take it.

Southwest allows a no cost change whenever any flight is delayed more than 60 minutes.
Given what you said at first
1) why book one of the constantly delayed flights? Take an earlier flight .or.
2) connect thru one of the other cities listed earlier in the thread

@Will0329 wrote: to their precovid schedule or is this permanent?? Many of the legacy carriers didn't cut their flights as much as southwest has. Where will southwest get the planes from to go back to their pre covid schedule?? It seems that southwest is using many of their unused planes to fly to new cities. First off, nothing the airlines do is permanent. The answer to your question is: as soon as there is enough traffic to profitably fill the planes. As far as where will Southwest get planes, the airline still has planes in storage that were placed there at the height of the crisis last year. The airline is also scheduled to receive 35 new planes this year.

I believe the answer to your question is "When there is enough demand to add the fights." When will that be? Sorry, I don't have a working crystal ball.

Schedule changes have been rough lately. Hopefully once travel starts to pick up more they will add flights back and you can get back to the 4 hour flights instead of 9 hours or the overpriced Alaska flights. You can also share your feedback on the route changes with southwest directly though one of these contact methods: Submitting a Suggestion and/or Complaint -Blake

What's the point of speculating? If/when it happens, then you'll know. Besides itraffic levels are improved over those at the start of the pandemic, and thus cutting cities is less likely now than it was then.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Unlike Newark, Southwest doesn't have service in other nearby airports in the Seattle area. Regarding Paine, I remember seeing something about the decision to focus on other locations, including SEA. It didn't make sense to have just a few flights at Paine when they can have a much more meaningful presence at SEA and other existing airports. --TheMiddleSeat
