It's understandable to be concerned about your booking, especially when you've encountered an unusual delay in receiving the confirmation email. Since you've used a gift card and Apple Pay for your purchase, there are a few things to consider:
1. **Pending Charges**: The fact that you see pending charges indicates that the transaction is in progress. Sometimes, confirmation emails can be delayed due to various reasons such as server issues or email delivery delays.
2. **Rebooking and Gift Card**: If for any reason your reservation doesn't go through and you need to rebook, you should be able to use the gift card again. Gift cards typically retain their balance until fully utilized or expired, so you shouldn't encounter any issues using it for a subsequent booking.
3. **Refunds and Reversals**: In case the pending charges do not result in a completed reservation, the pending charges should be automatically reversed by your bank or financial institution. This process might take a few days depending on their policies.
4. **Contact Customer Support**: If you're still concerned about your booking or if you don't receive the confirmation email within a reasonable time frame, it's advisable to contact the customer support of the airline. They can provide you with specific details about your transaction and assist you further.
5. **Document Transaction Details**: Make sure to document all transaction details, including any pending charges, confirmation numbers (if available), and communication with customer support. This will help you in case you need to follow up or dispute any charges with your bank.
In summary, while it's understandable to be concerned about the delay in receiving the confirmation email, there shouldn't be any issues using the gift card again if needed for a rebooking. Keep an eye on your bank statement for any updates on the pending charges, and don't hesitate to reach out to customer support for assistance if necessary.

They should be able to grant you an exception to the no-refund policy and issue a refund for both; however the refund would need to be requested.
Refunds for EBCI are now within policy for situations that are not within the customer's control. It should auto-refund within 7 days, but if not the updated policy is here and one can reach out for a refund https://support.southwest.com/helpcenter/s/article/If-Southwest-Airlines-cancels-my-flight-will-I-get-a-refund-for-my-EarlyBird-Check-In-purchase

Isn't this EBCI, in a sense? That was so problematic that they eventually stopped selling it on most flights. My concern here is that this also further incentivizes preboarding abuse, and not 100% sure how family boarding would be accounted for if a group decides not to purchase connected positions (WN does not need bad press about families not sitting together like on F9 or NK)

Are you sure the reservation fully ticketed? If Southwest was unable to complete the authorization for whatever reason (in this case, maybe an Apple Pay bug?) then no funds will be taken from your card though there might be a pending authorization on it for a couple of days.

Sorry, I don't agree with your statement.
I love the "open seating" policy at Southwest Airlines. It is the only airlines that I have used exclusively since 2017. I feel that the boarding process is smoother than on other airlines. I also have several family members who love this policy.
I certainly hope this never changes... if it does, it makes Southwest no better than the other airlines.

In my past experience with this type of promo over the last couple of years I did same day changes and still qualified. I think the change may eliminate qualification would be for moving a flight past the promotion fly by date as mentioned by @epcot. one time SW did a schedule change I changed my date still within the promotion travel by date and qualified so you should be good for same day changes
Personally it would be a headache for the airline if they eliminated qualification for same-day changes because some have to be changed due to IROPS and it wouldn’t be fair to those customers to say you no longer qualify because we had to rebook you due to a flight delay

My suspicion for prioritization within the same fare group is that the actual underlying fare class plays a part, but time of standby listing likely does as well

I don’t think they’ve ever officially revealed, but the easiest for WN to calculate is likely status tier, then fare group (possibly using the underlying fare classes), then time of ticketing. This prevents having to make any external calls to a CRM or such
Maybe they could do a quarterly update to everyone's "ranking" I agree it would be an effort to poll the system every day for those positions.

I would expect your Dec-24 /Jan-24 statement to count toward 2025 A status; This was the logic I pushed back on them that the Jan-24 statement should count at the new rate since it counted for the 2024 qualification, but for the rate used in the calculation, they didn't agree, the status points still went toward 2024.

I'll fly my qualifying flights in May. I have flights booked in August. I'll be able to add my companion on August 5th? One of the segments was booked with rapid rewards points. I can still use the companion pass correct?

Yes, except each person will have to sign up for a RR account to claim the credits and transfer them to you.

There is a cargo interline with Westjet https://www.swacargo.com/swacargo_com_ui/ship/facilities/interline-destinations/
Interesting to know.
I guess the statement "Southwest has interline agreement with Westjet" may be true but it would be for cargo. However, the discussion context on this thread appeared to focus on making name changes to reservations and booking non-SW flights with points. No mentioning of cargo. Thus, it would be way too easy to misinterpret this statement.

Check your email for a receipt. It'll be titled something like "You're going to Mars on 01/01 (ABCDEF)!"
The flight qualifies if you paid with anything that isn't points or an employee buddy pass. So card, Southwest credits, things like that qualify.
The terms state that "Changes made to any itinerary after purchase of a one-way or round trip revenue flight may eliminate qualification for this promotion"

That is indeed what I’m saying! Book for yourself, then transfer the remaining credit. Once that’s booked, transfer the remaining credit onward and repeat.
I suppose what the original poster could do is book however as many itineraries as they have people (for a similarly priced flight) then cancel, and end up with however many credits they need.
Example: I have $300 transferable credit. I book the flight I need for $100. I then make 2 separate $100 bookings on other flights, and refund those to a transferable flight credit. Now I have one correct flight and two $100 transferable credits instead of one $300 credit.
