So on the app I decided to look in to the cash in points on a flight from AUS-DCA on July 5th
cash ticket is $125
points alone: 8,484
cash + points: 8,800 points and $55 off
so let me think about this spend more points and $70 vs less points and $5.60

So with same day change you can make the change starting at midnight so you could set an alarm and right at midnight make the change. As long as a seat exists you can get it regardless of if it’s anytime only available and as long as your destination doesn’t change and date you can pick any available flight connection city can change (I’ve changed to different connection cities just to grab lunch/dinner before)
Keep in mind should the day come and there are no later flights you will be stuck with the awful flight so be ready just in case
As mentioned you will lose your boarding position so I wouldn’t buy EB check in as it won’t apply to your new flight however you could still upgrade to the A1-15 if you want after making the same day change if it’s available

honestly you will probably just end up on a no fly list because businesses can refuse service to whoever they want and if you continue to harass them they will get fed up (some places quicker than others)
if you hate the airline so much why do you continue to fly them??
maybe go test out the other airlines with the new rules just announced today of cash refunds see if they actually do it you seem like the person who would great for seeing if they follow the new rules.
I’m guessing this is one flight that the rules weren’t enforced to your liking but you will call out MCO as a whole (which is not fair)
maybe air travel isn’t for you and a car, bus, or train might be a better method since your always upset over everything

Southwest receives lots of applications it can take time to hear back just keep an eye on your email as sometimes emails might go to spam/junk folder so be sure to check there from time to time

Filing the lost item report is your best bet patience is the next step I know your anxious to get your laptop back however it is possible they sent it to lost and found and that process does take time. You might also consider contacting Denver airport to see if it was turned into their lost and found as opposed to Southwest lost and found

im sorry of your bad experience on Wednesday I know they were a mess then and from what I have seen and heard from some of my friends it was a disaster that’s not the normal but unfortunately with the extra people in town flying out it made for a headache and it did take some time for kinks to be worked out
my guess is the line just kept growing from passengers missing flights and having to be rebooked and that takes time sometimes rebooking can be fast other times there’s a passenger who can’t decide what they want to do and hold up the line if you know what I mean.
id recommend sending an email to southwest sharing your experience and maybe they will be able to offer you a voucher for the inconvenience especially since you had to take a later flight
my recommendation for Southwest as another customer like yourself would have been to issue a waiver for all AUS flights once they saw what mess they were getting themselves in to that way people could change flights on the app/website without a fare difference and no agent required (similar to what they do for weather) of course HQ usually deals with those waivers but the line would have still been there for checked bags and other things but maybe slightly shorter.

In my past experience with this type of promo over the last couple of years I did same day changes and still qualified. I think the change may eliminate qualification would be for moving a flight past the promotion fly by date as mentioned by @epcot. one time SW did a schedule change I changed my date still within the promotion travel by date and qualified so you should be good for same day changes
Personally it would be a headache for the airline if they eliminated qualification for same-day changes because some have to be changed due to IROPS and it wouldn’t be fair to those customers to say you no longer qualify because we had to rebook you due to a flight delay

Yesterday was the 3rd busiest day in AUS history just behind formula 1 and a music festival. With one security check point closed for the expansion it creates a massive backup by Southwest I agree that they handled the crowds well and when I’m there tomorrow I’ll be sure to share the kudos with some of the employees I know there (after all AUS is my home airport and my 2nd home)

At this time the date hasn’t been announced for when you can book cash and points bookings but I’ll be curious to see the value to points like will you get to select the points you want to use and then it calculates the dollars you need to pay (similar to Hilton) or will it be like delta where it’s a set dollar amount for each ticket type plus X points say wanna get away $85 regardless of actual fare plus some points (delta makes bank on people not comparing to actual fares)
