The Houston family spirit was aglow recently at the Mayor's Tree lighting ceremony, and 100 Houston elementary school children literally rocked city hall playing violins and violas and singing pumped-up Christmas carols. The program featured Houston's strong music and dance talent, and oh my goodness, it was fantastic. Then, when Mayor Annise Parker lit the Christmas tree, we all gasped with broad smiles at the fantastic fireworks finale. Because these are difficult economic times for us, special kudos to Southwest Airlines for underwriting the fireworks and highlighting our Houston holiday spirit.
