Exploring national parks and being outdoors is a huge part of my life as it allows me to connect with nature and visit some unforgettable places. Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of travelling to places like the Redwood National Park, where my family and I saw the Redwood trees. I even ran a marathon through Golden Gate National Parks! All of these trips are ones I really cherish and many started with a flight on Southwest.

Our expansive Southwest network can help connect Customers to the more than 400 national parks across the country—which is one of the many reasons we’re so excited to become an official partner of the National Park Foundation! As the official charitable partner of the National Park Service, the National Park Foundation is dedicated to protecting and enhancing America’s national parks for present and future generations.

To celebrate the partnership launch earlier, last week we surprised Customers on select flights from Denver to Bozeman (located near Yellowstone National Park) and Denver to Fresno (located near Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks). Southwest Employees and Customers celebrated together with pop-up activities at the gate areas and during the flight.

These activations featured a trivia contest highlighting fun facts about our national parks and giveaways of co-branded Southwest and National Park Foundation reusable water bottles, backpacks, and sunglasses. Children in the gate area colored on national park activity sheets, played in our Southwest “campsite” and received plush animals, like raccoons, big horn sheep, and bears—all animals that can be found in the national parks near Bozeman and Fresno.

We also surprised Customers with complimentary America the Beautiful passes, which cover entrance and standard amenity fees at Federal recreation sites, including national parks. It was a fun way to kick off our partnership and celebrate with our Customers—many of who were heading to national parks that day!

The National Park Foundation is also the newest member of our Points for a Purpose program. Southwest Customers can donate Rapid Rewards® Points to help the National Park Foundation ensuring everyone can enjoy and create life-long relationships with magnificent national parks. The partnership is part of Southwest's charitable focus area of mental health and wellbeing.
