Is there a way to get a heads up when Southwest is going to have a flight sale to Hawaii? I'm still waiting for them to announce they are going to Kauai and wondered where the info is put out first.

I think the short answer is that nobody knows for sure so it will require some active monitoring if you want to be one of the first to know when the flights go on sale.
The longer answer with info I'm able to find about Kauai service:
From the March 4, 2019 press release announcing initial Hawaii flights on sale: "Additional service details, including plans for previously announced gateways of San Diego and Sacramento, and for Lihue, on Kauai, will be announced in the coming weeks."

This is the link to the Southwest media page where the press releases like the one above are posted: https://www.swamedia.com/
This is the link for Southwest Travel Planning Tools: https://www.southwest.com/html/travel-tools/index.html
Note that the planning tools page states, "We are currently accepting air reservations through November 2, 2019. On May 23, 2019 we will open our schedule for sale through January 5, 2020. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently."
My *guess* as another Southwest customer is that we may see Kauai flights announced off-cycle (i.e. not on May 23) given the comment from the March release that additional flights will be announced in the coming weeks. I assume Southwest is hedging their bets on when they start the next batch of Hawaii service given the Max 8 groundings and that they probably want to see how the initial Hawaii service is panning out.
