Your niece will be OK. Now since Trump has issued a declaration that all Max 8 and 9’s are “officially grounded”. They make up only 5% of SWA planes, so they will park them and bring a different plane for your niece to fly on tomorrow. It won’t really effect service as they only operate 737’s and more then likely they have extras. Tweet at @southwest or wait a few hours till the 737 Max 8 and 9, are pulled and the message trickles down to Customer Service. Then check again what type of plane was assigned. It WILL not be a Max 8. But the reassignment might not be out till later tonight or tomorrow.

@southwest It should have been done 2 days ago, and the President, should have said to you guys, #United and #American #Groundtheplane Not impressed with how slow this was. I am a loyal Southwest Customer, I trust your pilots, and your flight attendants, both of which had different opinions. Your CEO should have taken action immeadiaty before ANYONE else. You kept flying and flying and flying. I hope people realize what you all did, and that you never wait again.

Easy to check the kind of plane. For passengers, there are three fairly simple ways to know if you're booked to fly on a 737 MAX 8. 1. Check your airline site or app. Clicking on the flight number will show you what type of airplane is assigned to the flight. 2. Check the registration of the airplane on the FAA site. Before you board, note the registration number which is clearly marked on the side of the plane. Plug that number into the FAA registration data base here. 3. Aviation apps such as FlightRadar24 make it easy to see the type of airplane on which you're scheduled to fly. Look up your flight number or use the app filter function to track all 737 MAX 8s and any other aircraft

Look, Mary Schiavo, former Aviation Inspector General made a statement today that until they come out with what is wrong with the 737 Max 8, that she would be concerned to fly it. She ALSO said that Boeing will have more info by the end of the week. Until I personally know the problem and what the solution is, I am following Mary’s advice. When she says something is wrong, you run. I think that SW should at least ground the 30 to 40, 737 Max 8’s they have until further notice on the cause of the crash, under an abundance of caution. Why take a chance?
