There are many of us here who get thousands of SW miles/points that choose not to fly, but to use the points/miles to get gift cards.

Well, the gift card area may be working now . . . but they deleted both the Barnes and Noble cards plus the Amazon cards. I don't need any of the other "stuff".

To Rewards Staff: I paid extra miles to have my gift cards mailed to me by Priority 2-3 day delivery. For the last two days I have been unable to get a tracking number to verify. None of your phone numbers are being answered, and your email option locks me out because I already have a pending email that is going unanswered for at least another two days. You have access to my Community Forum account which provides you with my Account Number to access my email address. Please provide me with a tracking number (USPS or UPS?) for the order I already placed for Priority Mailing to my home. The order Number ends in 0126, and I paid extra miles for the priority delivery within 2-3 days, but I need the tracking number. 😥

When you say your statement closed on the 9th and you have not received your points, has your statement actually posted to your account (which usually happens a few days after the closing date)? If your April statement is available to see, then look for the points that were included in the statement.

There are two (2) important dates on my Chase Southwest card: The Payment Due Date and The Statement Date (which comes a few days after the Payment Due Date) The Payment Due date allows me to make certain that I have enough charges posted to the card on or before the due date. My due date is on the 8th of the month) Then I wait for the Statement to close, which is on the 11th of the month (3 days after the payment due date). When the Chase Statement posted on the 11th (actually today), I saw that all of my points/miles were posted on the same statement. Then I came over to the Southwest site and saw that Chase had sent the point/miles the same day (today). If you're new to Southwest and Chase, then the first time may take 2 days after the statement.

If you're struggling to figure out how to meet your "spend" (which is the dollar amount to spend to get the promised points/miles within a time frame), then understand that Chase and most banks accept a credit card charge to Plastiq . . . which is an online payment site where you can use a credit card to pay your rent or mortgage or just about anything else where normally the landlord does not accept credit cards. You simply set up your Plastiq account (takes 5 minutes) and add your landlord's mailing address and contact detail for a "paper check" to be mailed to him. Easy as pie . . . plus if you go to any of the youtube coaching websites, they will provide you their referral link to save even more. As an example: If your rent is $1000 a month, and you pay it with a credit card through Plastiq, then in addition to the $1000 payment charged to your credit card will be their standard credit card fee of around 2% (which is what most stores have to pay). So the $1000 rent check would cost you $20 more to use your credit card. But if you sign up using a referral link to Plastiq, you can charge up to $500 on your card without having to pay the 2%. Therefore, you pay your rent of $1000 and it only costs you $1010 to finalize. Also, if you asking if it's worth paying 2% to pay bills through Plastiq, then look at the amount of bonus you will be receiving: 50,000 points is worth 500.00 in free department store and other store branded gift cards through Southwest . . . so if you paid $40 in fees to pay $2000 in charges . . . you're still very very ahead! To learn more, go to Youtube and type in "using plastiq for minimum spend "

As mentioned, once the points are transferred from Chase to SW - they are yours, no matter what happens to the credit card. BUT, if you want to have a less expensive annual card fee - remember the 149/yr fee can actually only cost you half . . . or $75 a year because you account will get a free 7500 mile annual bonus rewards . . . which is worth 75.00 toward any gift card - such as department stores, restaurants, dvds, and others. Or, Chase will be able to downgrade your card to a 60.00/yr card, and you get an extra $30 in gift cards to lower your out-of-pocket. Keeping your chase card through a downgrade will also help you immensely in getting other Chase cards that actually can pay you $2000 in cash bonus'. Once you have the first Chase card, the other cards are easily approved . . . especially the home business cards.

When I got my SW card, which offers 60,000 miles after I spend $3000, I was able to get my points on the day the first statement posted. Had I waited until after the closing date and statement date, then I would have had to await another month to get the miles. Currently we are not flying, so I am using my new batch of miles to buy $600.00 worth of on-sale movies and DVDs . . . which is great.

Amazon will probably no longer participate. The corona virus has affected Amazon to where they have cancelled several of their programs to concentrate only on "essential" health items, not any of the non-essentials - such as movies, electronics, ets - even though some of those items are in stock. I also noticed Amazon and Walmart have both stopped participating in cash back sites where you could get 5% off. So, I have gone through all of the other remaining gift cards SW has to offer, and I can still buy some specific items at specific stores, which means I have to redeem more cards than just the one Amazon to get what I want.
