Southwest Airlines Community

The truth is though that this was NOT weather related. People are posting weather reports from all over the United States. I was sitting at my gate, staring at my empty plane in Tampa and my gate agent who was booking my replacement flight for the next morning (which was cancelled before we  even left the airport) told us, "there is no crew, no pilot to fly it." The same thing was happening in Orlando, where they were busing in passengers from and Sarasota. I was talking to my family in Phoenix, who were flying into Florida on American, no weather issues or ATC issues, their flight to Miami was fine. So was my husbands family from San Diego and San Francisco to Salt Lace City and to Atlanta, on Delta. Why are all these other airlines and flights able to fly, but not SWA? Air traffic controllers are part of the FAA, so why are only SWA flights being cancelled?  Why am I staying in a hotel with half a dozen other passengers that received hotel and food vouchers and ticket refunds, yet I am stuck paying for my hotel room, new tickets on a different airline and meals, just because I spoke to an uniformed agent?  What gives? I waited on hold the first time yesterday for 4 hours and they disconnected. This morning I got up at 3am and called, they said the approx. wait time was 120 minutes, 3 1/2 hours later, got disconnected again. I have emailed, direct messaged several times on Twitter and FB. I am beginning to feel like a stalker. I am stuck in Tampa, running out of my epilepsy meds and my husband has to be back to work tomorrow. We got rebooked on a flight that was supposed to leave this morning, only to have it cancelled as we left the airport. We asked about a hotel voucher, told that SWA didn't do that, only to be loaded on an airport shuttle with 5 other people that had vouchers from SWA. WTF? So, now I have paid to get tickets on another airline, my original tickets on SWA, 2 nights in a hotel and still no response from SWA? Plus, this is all supposed to be ATC and weather? Since when does weather or ATC affect airports from Cincinnati to Maine, and from Tampa to San Francisco? At least be honest. People can see weather reports and everyone is posting them from every airport across the nation, and why are flights cancelled today and tomorrow? Sneaky, sneaky and Shame! ... View more

I am in the same boat. My flight out of Tampa was supposed to be at 6am this morning, rebooked from yesterdays cancelled 5pm flight. It was cancelled before we even got out of the airport, but the connecting flight from Denver home to Phoenix was still operating. I have no idea how that is possible, since flights from Phoenix are cancelled due to ATC issues and weather. Odd, right?  ... View more

Why does ATC issues in JAX have an effect in San Jose and flights originating in San Francisco? My plane was on the tarmac in TPA, but there was no pilot or crew. Social media is showing pics and short films of pilots and crew walking out due to vaccination requirements, I agree with the vaccine mandates, keep everyone safe. However, Southwest still needs to do what is right by the passengers, you knew this was an issue. Come on, weather and ATC issues are not a problem for every other airline, only affecting Southwest? Seriously? You need to refund, not flight credit and pay for hotels, that way we can afford to book with another airline. I am not giving up on Southwest, just want to get home. ... View more

I am stuck in Tampa with my husband. Our flight was cancelled yesterday, rebooked for early this morning, cancelled again before we even left the airport. 5 people on my shuttle had hotel and meal vouchers, which I was told Southwest didn't offer! Now we are stuck without enough of my epilepsy meds to make it through another day, no money to pay for the hotel or food and no flight! Plus, no way to contact Southwest! I have been on hold for 3 hours, who else is supposed to be calling now, if not me? I have tried Twitter and Facebook and sent an email.
