I will earn my last few points toward next year’s companion pass on a flight Dec. 27th. Will these be applied since they are so close to Jan. 1st? It seems like points from flights are applied immediately.

I have 2 free early bird check in’s each year from my southwest credit card that are automatically refunded when I pay with my card. Has anyone tried to use those to get early bird for a companion or another person under your reservation? Does it work the same?
