Everyone has their own Thanksgiving traditions, most of which revolve around turkey. We’ve all seen the classic Thanksgiving picture of a family sitting around a table topped with turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and cranberry sauce. For most people, that picture accurately describes the details of Thanksgiving every year, but I am not one of those people.
I have never really been a fan of Thanksgiving food. They’re funny to watch, but turkey has just never appealed to me. Thankfully, I have a loving mother who has allowed me to maintain my uncanny dissatisfaction of the large bird. Rather than forcing turkey down my throat each year, she instead cooked a special meal just for me: nachos. Yes, you read correctly. My wonderful mother has cooked me nachos on Thanksgiving Day for years, thus keeping my radical spirit alive. Unfortunately, this year will be the first Thanksgiving spent without my family, so I have to play “mom” for myself by ordering a large pepperoni pizza because that is the next best thing to nachos. Plus, I don’t have to do any cooking!
Regardless of my lack of food traditionalism, I still maintain the most essential aspect of Thanksgiving: giving thanks. I’m thankful to be alive and healthy. I’m thankful to have a family who loves me as I am. I’m thankful to work for a Company made up of LUVing People who want to see me succeed. I could go on and on because my list of thank-yous is never ending.

“Loved it! Absolutely loved it! Fantastic!” commented Southwest Customer, Carol Aherin, after experiencing a Live at 35® concert on her flight from Denver to Minneapolis on October 11.
Carol was on one of the lucky flights chosen by Southwest to receive an exclusive in-air concert from indie rock group, Bronze Radio Return. The band performed midflight at a staggering height of 35,000 feet where they wowed Customers with acoustic arrangements of their hits, Down There and Further On.
Bronze Radio Return performed a Live at 35® concert in partnership with Live In The Vineyard. Through these events, musicians are brought on board planes to surprise and delight Customers with live inflight entertainment. The concert is a complete surprise. It is not until the band starts playing that Customers realize they are receiving a free concert. It’s like winning the airline lottery; the chances of a Customer choosing that exact Live at 35® flight is more than one in 3,200.
Customers like Carol appreciate being introduced to music that connects with them. Music is something which everyone can enjoy and relate to regardless of their age, which further enhances the Southwest Experience. Kevin Tapply smiled as he noted his son’s reaction to the music, “The baby was dancing the entire way. He had a blast!”
