Thank you for your suggestion to Contact Southwest Customer Service
I've done that a few times and happy to report an intelligent response to one of my messages. This reassured me that people are reading these suggestions.
I posted on this customer forum in hope that others who live in the Santa Barbara area or SF Bay Area who would help urge Southwest to consider a new route to serve us.

We need a direct flight Santa Barbara CA to San Jose CA!
The only service from Santa Barbara to the SF Bay Area is United Airlines SBA-SFO, which is awful. Southwest will fill up a daily flight servicing this route!
Many people live in Santa Barbara and work in Silicon Valley who commute daily.
