Nothing added to HRL unfortunately. With Hurricane Harvey hitting the Texas gulf coast and 5/6 total daily flights to Hobby, HRL comes to a standstill when Houston is affected by an incedent like this. If DAL and/or MDW served HRL in addition to AUS and HOU, then maybe there would be less disruption to the local flying public. The 2016 average daily passagers between North Texas and HRL was 155 per day. In the Rio Grande Valley, the total passengers to Chicago area was over 130 per day.

Awesome to see nonstops from DAL to HRL again, if only for a brief time during the holidays, but still hopefully this could evolve to year round dailies.

Bring back DAL-HRL non-stops.

Asked about the concern of some Island leaders that SPI is missing out on tourists from Dallas-Fort Worth because there are no direct flights from the Metroplex, Arnold said: “I do not have all the data in front of me but I do think that one of the things that the CVB can do, collectively, is spend some time with the airlines and see what our opportunities are to regain some of that. I do not know what they are at this moment but what I hear most often is the loss of direct flights. We certainly will go and try to find the right people to talk to and see what it takes to get those back because Dallas is a well-heeled and important market for all of South Texas.”

Me too. That route was popular for the valley.

If Southwest wins the last two gates at Love Field over Delta and Virgin American and gets an additional 20 flights per day to/from Love Field, is there a possiblity that the non-stops between Harlingen and Dallas could continue?

I know, this is bad for Harlingen. It's going to lose close to 200,000 seats a year (enplanement and deplanements) with the loss of two daily flights.
