Another great post Captain Ray, thank you for the education!
I see that you avoided pilot "Humor" ; that would seem to be a tricky area. However I did hear two memorable bits from your colleagues (or perhaps you). One Captain gave a detailed pre-departure briefing on why we might arrive late, ending with "But I did save money on my car insurance today!" I am not sure if everyone got the joke, but thanks.
The other time I was at the end of a line at BWI when two pilots walked up briskly and asked "Where are you going?" When I said Islip, they said "So are we" and boarded the plane. Another day brightened, thanks to SWA employees!

Another vote for Islip, as said by others above, clean, friendly staff, good access, reasonable parking, TSA /security runs smooth. And best of all, nice tour over Long Island outbound and inbound!
ISP to LAX would be nice, cannot be much further than LAX to BWI. (160-170 NM?)
Bonus: never saw a scene which would have made it into the show "Airline"
(I like a four bucks or 2, but that show is a testimonial for the need for moderation!)

Tough peanut bags? (And they ARE tough!) No problem for my trusty pocketknife. Now if I could only explain this to the TSA......

As Southwest goes to all the right places, I fly SWA exclusively. Your staff is great, fares are great, and no luggage lost yet! Speaking of luggage, I almost always check a bag plus have an underseat size carry-on. The steamer-trunk "carry-ons" annoy me; if I used my space, they would be SOL. BUT, if they all checked luggage then my luggage would take longer to unload and possibly be at bigger risk of loss/damage- it is a dilema!
I am a "customer of size" and buy 2 seats. I always sit starboard, 2-3 rows from back. FAs are always understanding, only flaw is that sometimes rear FAs don't warn front FAs that a seat is reserved, thus letting passengers make round trip to the back. Nice touch: sometimes FAs have let me help load snack cartons into overhead bin at stops-saves them a step or 2 and gives me excuse to stand & stretch.
Humor is good, sometimes very good. But it is fine with me if FAs don't have time and/or ability for that.
Finally- thanks for the blog, I had wanted an informal place to reach Southwest. (Too lazy to write a letter!)
