I don't have a problem with the new RR. I never pay to fly WN as I have the Chase WN card. If I look at the program per dollar spent it works out for me as I book my WN tickets pretty far out as I am flying for vacations etc. So on a dollar for dollar basis I could save money. As a corporate travel agent my clients are happy as they are being rewarded for buying YL or Business Select fares. Doing the math I have the potentiality of more frequent reward tickets. My two most frequent destinations are SFO and LGA. Thankfully LGA is one of the most price competative markets out of MDW.

Having worked in the industry for many years I have some concerns about the merger. Other mergers have been disasters such as HP/US, PA/NA etc. The combined US has miserable customer service ratings and two employee groups that have gotten into fist fights over seniority. I hope WN integrates some of the F9 product across the merged airline such as the inflight satellite TV. WN will never go with a combined 320/737 fleet. Lynx would probably be killed. I don't think there ever will be a "Southwest Express" brand.
If any airline can pull this off while maintaining high levels of customer service it is Southwest.

I will miss the WN timetables. I always liked the biographical blurb on the front. Even when you are at the airport nowadays most travelers have a iPhone/Blackberry etc to pull up schedules on weather days etc. Before WN became available in Sabre every agent in the agencies I worked at had a schedule on their desk.

I understand the front line employee's worries about international growth coming from codeshares. Not flying WN metal over the boarders reduces risk to the domestic ops. The tweny minute turn will never work for intl destinations due to the paperwork required and such. I used to work for AA. In comparison WN staff have got it easy as far as company relations go. Flying around the world as AA does is not that great when the airline treats you as completely dispossable.
