Anticipate anybody from young artists just starting out in their career to Country Music Hall of Famers and admired superstars. Friday, March 9 th was what anyone would consider another staple in history at the venue; Southwest Night at the Grand Ole Opry starring Keith Urban! Guests were welcomed to the Grand Ole Opry by our giant inflatable plane, local Southwest Airlines employees handing out peanuts and pretzels in Spirit Jr. costumes, and a chance to win two roundtrip tickets on Southwest to be awarded later in the show. The festivities began at 5:00 p.m. running all the way up until when the show began at 7:00 p.m. Shortly before the stars took the stage, our friends at the Opry helped gather some enthusiastic guests to play in a contest; Inflatable Southwest Airplane Competition! Whoever could inflate a replica Southwest Airplane won a free backstage tour of the Opry. And let me tell you, it is an amazing tour of this historic venue! Truly rich in history, country fan or not, anyone would enjoy the sense of Nashville flair this place has to offer. Throughout the night as various country stars took to the stage, the excitement continued to build for the grand finale act, Keith Urban! But before Keith could perform, we had to announce our winner of the two roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines. There was absolutely no mistaking who the winner was. As soon as the announcer called, “Brenda Medena,” you could hear a scream that rang through the entire auditorium! It was so great to see the excitement it brought her and her friends; made only better by her grateful, “Thank you’s!!” Once Keith finally took the stage, the crowd erupted. It was truly a perfect ending to a wonderful Southwest Night at the Grand Ole Opry!
