Elisa,
good choice asking Stephanie what she did to prepare! I always wondered too! I was at her GI and 1/1. She was FABULOUS! Steph did have a previous blog that she thinks is long, but it's not. If you haven't read it, it has some great info in there about customer service, etc. that will help you to prepare for the interview.Do think of challenging times, too, and how you handled it. (in a positive way, of course!)
Stephanie, I DID get hired with the other airline, but passed on the opportunity for several reasons. I am counting the months until I can apply w/ swa again! Good luck to you

Steph,
See? Your blog wasn't too long, look how many people got some kind of inspiration from it! It has really affected me in my personal/work life. Like Dennis, it has also helped me kick it into "7th gear".
I have a f/a interview with another airline coming up next week. I 'll still apply again w/ swa in a year, as they are my first choice, but life is an adventure, so I'll see what happens.
Congrats on diving into that f/a pool. Have you thought about where you would like to be based?

Stephanie,
I dont' think your blog was too long. You had a lot of good information in there!
It made me miss being in the retail environment. Seriously!!!! I had fun there because of all the things you mentioned. Being in healthcare now, it's very different. I pretty much have to be "serious" all the time. Helpful but serious.
And I will try again, but I am going to change things around a bit because of YOU!!!! I looked on the swa website and saw that they're not hiring f/a's currently, so I'll keep checking and I'll apply again in 6 or 8 months if they're hiring.
Steph, I know you are going to make a FABLOUS flight attendant!!! I would love to be a passenger on one of your flights!

Stephanie.....You GO girl! As I told you in our GI, I did the same thing as you for about 13 years. I admire your enthusiasm, and customer service attitude! It is very challenging to maintain the positive attitude that you have working in the retail environment, and you do it with ease!
Just from reading your post, I would have picked you for the f/a job. I am going to use your above post for inspiration for my next swa interview, and hopefully I'll get the job this time! Keep up the good work

Yes, I am going to try again in a year (well, 11 months now, but who's counting?) Thanks for all the kind words. I was disappointed I didn't make it, but I'll see what I can do to improve my interview skills, and try again.
If you have the time, could you please let us know when you get the "official" phone call/email saying you are in the pool? I'm excited for you! Best of luck in your new career.

Sorry about the age mix up Stephanie! (for everyone who hasn't seen her, she looks great!)
Congratulations on getting invited to training. I'm sure it just takes a long time for the background check to get processed. I'm sure you'll be in the pool soon.

I went to the Group Interview in June. I was one of three people picked for the one on ones (I also made it to the one on ones two years ago when I applied) I felt I had a GREAT interview. Unfortunately, they didn't see it that way, and I got my rejection letter 10 days later. (I think Leah might know how I feel here)
For Kristy....I think you should go to a Group Interview, because they give you such great information there about pay, etc. There were lots of ways to make extra money (ie picking up extra trips in the beginning of the month, passenger loads, working as the "lead" flight attendant (I can't remember what terminology they used). I also talked to a former swa f/a, and he made 40,000 in his first year and still had a lot of time off.
I believe they also said that you'd get $1,000 for training, but it came at the end of training (not exactly sure about the amount) but if you go to the GI,they cover so much information, and more!
For the "recovering fa" I am shocked you didn't make it to the one on ones.I would think that the experience would be a plus. And 35 isn't too old! One of the people picked in my group to go on to the one on ones was in her 50's.
I do have a tip for people going to the group interview.....Both times I applied I went to Oakland, Ca, so this may just be an "Oakland thing" But.....BOTH TIMES that I went, I noticed that the people being selected for the one on ones (myself included) were wearing business suits! Either a matching skirt/blazer or matching pantsuit or for the guys, a suit. It may have been just the times that I went, but I couldn't help but notice both times, those people wearing business attire were chosen. (just a helpful tip for those of you going)

I was invited to a SW group interview for Flight Attendants in March 2005. I was one of 4 lucky people to go onto the one-on-one interview later that day. I was fingerprinted and interviewed with a Flight Attendant and Recruiter. Unfortunately, I wasn't invited for training, and I received the "Thank you for your interest" letter. The letter said that I could reapply in 6 months. So I reapplied in Sept of 2005. I never heard anything. So I reapplied in March of 2006. Still nothing. Then I reapplied in Aug 2006. Still no letter inviting me to a group interview. Not wanting to give up, I reapplied in February of this year. I am hopefull that I will receive a letter inviting me to a group interview.
I wouldn't normally be this persistent, but I very much want to be part of the Southwest family. Any advice on how I can go to another group interview?
