Now that the MSP fares and schedule have been unveiled, I can't help be anything but disappointed. Aside from the excellent fare to MDW, everything else is as bad or worse than the "Big Boy" airline prices. I can't find a "weekend getaway" from MSP to anywhere on either coast for less than $400. In most cases the fares are well above that - closer to $600.
Looks like Southwest is doing its best to not provoke a wider fare war... and is content to simply shuttle people back and forth between MSP and MDW while it gets settled in. I hope the MDW route proves profitable and we can see service expand in the near term to the point where it may actually make sense to fly Southwest from MSP to a city other than Chicago. We're not even close to that point now, and it's a true disappointment.

I was so very excited to see that you would be entering MSP, as it is fantastic news that Northworst's stranglehold will be challenged. I must say, though, that I am bitterly disappointed in the result (with the exception of your MSP-MDW fares). I fly back and forth between MSP and Boston often, and routinely pay fares in the low-high $300s for connecting service thru Milwaukee on Midwest and $470+ for direct service on Northworst.
Imagine how excited I was to think about flying through MDW to either PVD or MHT yesterday morning for a great lower fare when I first accessed your site. And then the smack in the face I received when I found out that your weekend fares approach $600...
What's the point? May as well keep on doing what I've been doing... thanks but no thanks. Your new service doesn't seem to help anyone except for those planning to travel exclusively between MSP and MDW. Oh well...
