Sean - I'd rather have the employees (and let us not forget that managers are still people and employees) who has gone through this and made the screwup, been publicly called on the carpet still in the seat. Why? There is no way they'll do it again.

Your numbers on the accident record are incorrect. Southwest has never had a crew or passenger fatality in an accident, however the accident at Midway did kill a person on the ground.
Never the less, this is still an impressive record, and one to be commended.

I flew on Christmas day on Continental last year. I knew both of my legs were overbooked and I tried to signup to be bumped. But lo and behold the revenue management people had their stuff together and those planes flew everyone who showed up without bumping anyone.
(Why did I try to get bumped? -- Originally I thought I needed to be home on the 26th for work, but I wasn't scheduled in till the 27th or 28th, so I wanted the free flight out of it...)

This translation fun reminded me of a great little video over on YouTube called - A Wicked Deception.. They filmed the dialogue after it was translated from English, to French, then to German, then to French, then finally back to English. Its by the group that did the Chad Vader videos. Its quite funny!
