I love the idea of coupons!
Rapid Reward members and Business Select passengers should get free coupons to wi-fi access on the planes just like how you give out free drink coupons.
I think a $3 fee would be fair for a flight 1 hour or less.
1-2 hours: $5
2-3 hours: $7
3+ hours: $9
Handheld devices like an iphone or blackberry should be $1 less.

While I am not allergic to dogs and cats, I want to speak out for those who are. While this is a good way to make more revenue, I believe that this will really hurt your customer base that are allergic to pets.
Can you implement a plan that allows for people with pet allergies to notify the crew just like those who have peanut allergies?
I think that if there are people should have priority in travel. Those who are carrying the pets should have to take another flight if there are people one board who are allergic.

Wow, I am amazed at all the negative comments about the codeshare. This is really shocking that employees are just up in arms about this and are slinging mud left and right. All i can say is wow. Your company needs to get it together...stop bickering, come to the table, work out the differences. I want to continue flying your great airline...these squabbles makes me start to think that you're going the wAAy of American Airlines with their sour management-labor relations.

Hooray! Now that ends the speculation of what is the next new LUV market! I can't wait to see what unrolls.
With Porter Airlines coming to MDW, will Southwest partner with them as well to Canada?

How about, "Coming to a Plane Near You"???
Do you know how the in-flight wi-fi testing is going? When will it be rolled out to the whole fleet?
Also, will there be a "Coming to a Smartphone Near You"???
Is there plans to update the smartphone/blackberry version of southwest.com?

Wow! What a rush to buy tickets this morning!
Seriously, right when I got up, I realized that the new schedule would be out. Just like that after searching, so many flights were unavailable!
On top of that, the reservation system was giving me problems, and I had to call the 1-800 number. Waiting on hold for over 40 minutes was crazy!
Today has been a busy day for ya'll!
The demand for Southwest service is enormous...especially in light of the downturn of the airline industry and shoddy service you get from other companies (I won't mention names!).
Thanks for working hard for us.

For $3 (or drink coupon), does one get the whole can? Or just a standard cup of Monster? If I wanted Monster/vodka mixed drink, will that be $6 (2 coupons)?

Thanks for the insider information about the Why's. It's great to hear from the company's end on why Southwest can't fly right now.
But does it have to stop there? Will Southwest fly to Hawai'i (or other overseas destinations for that matter) in the future?
As I have known, Southwest has a very good Spirit and will power to take on challenges and prevail over them. Why is Hawai'i any different? Your post here makes it sound like Hawai'i (and thus other overseas destinations) impossible to handle. I know that you can. Southwest is one of the best airlines out there.
I believe that Southwest has an opportunity to step in and build up in first Hawai'i as well as start up other destinations for the future.
Keep trying! Don't stop just because "we can't right now".
Thanks. Looking forward to flying with you again.
Peace.

Great Stats!
Could you post stats like that more often?
Has Southwest.com people thought of upgrading the mobile website? I think that mobile.southwest.com doesn't have he capabilities it has potential for. I've seen some other airlines' mobile sites and they are far more handy.
I believe retrieving flight schedules, getting airport weather, being able to see your MySouthwest account, as well as changing, cancelling, or even booking a flight should be able to be done on a mobile phone.
Those would be exellent features to make travel productivity much higher!
I hope other people would like to see the mobile site be developed further.
Thanks for all your hard work. You're the best airline here in the US!

Kudos to Mr Coleman's idea about bundling in-flight wi-fi with the Business Select Fare. That would definately be a good amenity to include in addition to the A boarding pass and free drink. I think giving flyers options like Mr Patty's idea about a day pass to access wi-fi is also smart.

When there's a chance to upgrade the planes, see if it's possible to install power plugs at every seat. That would be VERY USEFUL and compliment the internet onboard the flight (especially longer flights)!!!

i don't understand why people have complained about these new procedures and changes when they haven't even flown on a southwest flight yet. i agree with the flight attendant, chad (and others)... wait until you've flown, then gripe. i have yet to fly next month, so you'll hear from me then. until now, just remember that this airline is working its hardest to provide the best service in the air and on the ground. and they have...all my flight experiences in the past have far exceeded my expectations and i do not doubt that that will change...only for the better. as other comments above, just wait 5 years from now...if the culture has really changed for the worse because of the new leadership in place today...then by all means, gripe. you don't know how things will be until you've flown.
lastly, if you still hate the changes after you've flown, well, think about the big picture. southwest airlines is a business. they have to compete. and with all the other carriers out there, southwest is in a tough position to provide awesome service at the prices they do. if they kept everything the same, then they would not be able to compete well with the other airlines. and then (knock on wood!) southwest would have to go into bankruptcy or even fold! then we would lose the best service and airfares! who would want that?!!?! so, hats off to ya'll at southwest for working your tails off to make all sides come to a almost-happy medium...us the flying public, your company, and the airline industry.

Hi!
I am so thrilled by the new gate redesign! I saw it leaving San Antonio recently and i was very impressed!!! I can't wait until these new gates are finished across the system. Thank you for keeping open seating and making the travel experience all that much better. I give you super high marks for installing charging stations. We need them!!!
Now my only wish...install power plugs at each seat on the plane! That's a far cry, but, I can wish!
Peace!

I think it's funny that the press releases and post here on the blog refers to the Peninsula as the "west bay". San Francisco is "The City" and it is on the Peninsula!
I think it's great that Southwest is making it's presence in SFO again! It sure will be better for all travellers!

Hi!
Thanks for posting about the tough decisions you have to make.
I think that the open seating policy has so many perks. I booked a last minute flight for father's day and on my return ride, i got to sit in an exit row with extra leg room! If there was assigned seating, i would NEVER have that opportunity.
I think that the most important issue is that open seating keeps costs low. And in turn, you pass that savings along to the passengers. Making seats assigned will probably add another layer of costs and headaches.
I had to book a flight on another carrier recently (yes, i know sadly), but it was a wierd question from the agent, "what seat would you like, window or aisle?" it took me a second to realize what she was asking since it's not in my usual booking process to state what seat i want.
I hope that your research goes well and that you would take the time to poll all flyers. Perhaps you could make a small survey the next time people book online.
Thanks for all your hard work and for making my flying experiences so enjoyable.
