The people commenting on here are ridiculous. The only reason Southwest "rolled out the PR machine" is because Kevin is a Celebrity who used his social powers to share his side of the story with a large amount of people. Southwest is entitled to their side of the story and whether you think their policy is crap or not, it's still their policy and they followed it. I don't see ANYTHING wrong with what Southwest did and the only reason that this story has any attention is because he's a celebrity. If he was a nobody, no body would care. So you people complaining about SWA PR post should maybe think about your indoctrination to trust a celebrity with a 140-character blog at his dispose to trash a company when he made a choice against their policy.
By the way, standby always boards last and the person that checks your boarding pass isn't flying on the plane, therefore doesn't make choices on who is going to fit. Standby is a privilege only granted if there was room and clearly there was not. People who buy two seats board first and since Kevin was standby, that was not the case.
Do you honestly think it would have been less humiliating to ask the person beside them if the man sitting next to them was too much of a fatty for their liking? Now THAT sounds like something to complain about; a customer being forced to make the call over a pilot aware of the policy? What in the hell is wrong with you idiots!?
He broke the policy. End of story. I don't care who he is, director or a guy that lives in his grandma's basement selling stuff on Ebay, and anyone that claims that SW is wrong for defending themselves from his ridiculous attacks needs to stick a few more twinkies in their mouth and be quiet. Kevin had his chance to spout his version of the story and this is Southwest's. See, you're claiming that their policy is unfair but what is UNFAIR is someone taking up more space than what they're allotted and what would be UNFAIR is if the policy wasn't enforced because this D-bag is famous with a lot of mindless fools following him on Twitter. Oops. Next time, maybe he should walk from Oakland the Burbank and then he won't have to buy two seats on the flight home.
Enjoy your expensive flights with other airlines, you robots. Maybe someday you'll learn to not put so much faith in someone's opinion of a situation and make choices based on your own experiences. Aquaman called out and the sea critters came running to his side! What an abuse of social influence! Next time Kevin, tweet about something worth bringing awareness to, not your whiny baby experience when you broke a corporate policy.
