James ... nice to see that even though you're flying again, you're still a "technology liaison."
With all the "requirements" you're gathering, the "power station" is bound to be a big success.

My worst experience was on a charter flight for a ski trip. I don't remember the name of the charter company, which is probably just as well. But we waited more than six hours for the plane to show up, and when it did, it was "blue" ... no logo, no company name, no nothin' ... just "blue." I was not exactly filled with confidence, but I was young and wanted to go skiing.
Most of the flight was ok, but there was about a 15-minute stretch that was the one and only time I have been truly terrified on a flight. I was on the aisle, and at one point, the FA went up in the air and landed smack dab in the lap of the passenger in the window seat. That 15 minutes seemed like forever.
No more generic aircraft, or airlines, for me 🙂

I hate to disagree, but Gerard is just not a very scary guy. If you really want terrifying, go for Bob Crandle :-)
Or maybe a Dickens character ... the Ghost of Wright Amendment past.
Or for just plain fun ... Elwood Blues (The Blues Brothers).
I am sure you will make a great choice!

Another great post Bill!
It is truly amazing what CAN be done when people simply ignore those who are sure it CANNOT be done.
Someone should tell the story of our SWIFT system too ... another key to our success.

Go Kim!!
You are right about DFW. I think, deep down, DFW always knew that repeal of Wright could be good for them ... stimulating the market so both airports would have more traffic ... but they have become so dependent on AA, it was hard for DFW to go against them. Hopefully, this deal will change that.

Hey James!
I would never be patient enough to be a good FA, but I envy you guys and the pilots (Adopt-aPilot) getting to interact with all the kids. It's exciting to see their hungry little minds soaking up all the new things there are to learn.
I can' t help but smile and laugh out loud when I see a group of youngsters touring our Headquarters ... they're always so excited.
Keep the blogs coming!

The OPC does another money-saving thing for SWA. It contains the electronic Minimum Equipment List (MEL) Manual ... an 800-page (approx) book that is required for the airplane to fly. Not having to print thousands of copies saves considerable dollars and there's also less weight in the pilots' book bags.
