Renee,
Thank you so much for your kind words about Southwest and we value your commitment to flying Southwest.
The airline industry is a highly regulated industry and, as such, we are required to adhere to certain requirements concerning past criminal history. Federal Regulations refer to certain disqualifying criminal convictions and if an applicant has a conviction for any of these crimes during the past ten years they are not eligible for employment. If your cousin's criminal conviction is outside the ten years as you have indicated, he should not be disqualified based on the Federal Regulations.
If your cousin is interested in seeking a career with Southwest, please have him log on to www.southwest.com and check the jobs currently available in his area. There are various phases of the employment process and the background check is just one of the checks required before an individual can be hired on with Southwest.
Thanks again for your support and being and 'outside recruiter' for us!!

Brittany,
You have a great question regarding resumes submitted to Southwest Airlines. Unfortunately, there are times when we simply cannot contact everyone due to the volume of resumes we receive, as well as our current technology does not allow for automated responses. There also may be times that the needs of the hiring department may change, and external interviews are not conducted. We realize that it may appear that resumes somehow end up in the Ã

Jeffrey,
Great questions regarding our pool process, so let me try to clarify. Once you have been successful through the interview process and have passed all of the background screenings, you are placed in a pool. The pool is created so that when a Station or Department calls the People Department and requests to fill a position, we have candidates ready to go. So the length of time that someone is in the pool could vary depending on the hiring needs of the Station. As far as how many people are in the pool at the same time also varies depending on the size of the Station. Our larger Stations will have bigger pools, and are smaller stations wonÃ

Roel,
First of all, congratulations on your position in LAS! We are excited to have you com onboard Southwest Airlines. You are correct in that all airports are required to conduct an additional security check prior to issuing an airport badge to have access to secure areas of the airport. Unfortunately, each airport is conducting this assessment process differently across the country. That being said, the timeframes are different as to when you will hear back from them. We ask that you remain patient and we will keep our finger crossed that it will be soon! Good Luck!

Robert - Thank you so much for your interest in the Ramp Agent position at the AUS airport! I have to admit, it has been quite some time since we have had openings in AUS - we are very exited about the opportunities there. We are currently in the stage of reviewing the resumes that we have received for the Ramp Agent position. Our Recruiting Team should be sending out some correspondence, via email, within the next couple of weeks. Good luck - I truly hope we are the 'icing on the cake' for you!

Jeffrey - Congratulations for making it into the pool for the Ramp position at PBI! The time a candidate stays in the pool varies, it all depends on the hiring needs of the Station. You will remain active in the pool until there is an opening.
Just a couple of things to know, depending how long you are in the pool, an updated background checks/fingerinting or drug testing may be required - all of these have a time limit on them, and they will expire. If you are in there for an extended amount of time (one year or more) you may even be asked to come back and visit with the People Deptarment or the Station Leaders again.
Hopefully PBI will have an opening soon so you can join the Southwest Family! Good luck!

Gabrielle,
Thank you so much for your interest in joining the Southwest Airlines family! The Ramp Agent position is a great position here at Southwest. I can 'hear' from your comment how anxious you are to hear from us about the outcome of your interview. Depending on the volume of interviews that are conducted during the week, it can take anywhere from five days to a little more than a week to hear back. So, stay patient, and we will keep our fingers crossed for you! Good luck and I hope all goes well!

Lisa,
Tracy is exactly right in her answer to your question. There are many variables that determine when we need to bring our New Hires on, from out of the 'pool'. Feel free to contact the Employment Coordinator you have been working with if you have any questions. Hang in there, it will be worth the wait!
Tracy - Welcome OnBoard!! Good luck in your new position as a Provisioning Agent.- We are glad you are part of the Southwest family!

Thank you all for your interest in joining the Southwest family! I hope I can answer some of the questions I have seen in the above comments.
We do ask that you bring documentation to your group interview sessions in the event we have time alloted to do any one on one interviews immediately following. And you are correct, that is the time you would fill out the applicaiton. This information will assist Southwest in completing certain phases of the employment process.
The only position that has an age restriction on it is our Pilots. Currently, they can only fly until the age of 60. All other positions have no 'top out' age limit.
Thank you all for your interest in Southwest Airlines and good luck in your continued job search!

Hi, I am Shari Perez, the Manager over all of the Field Employment Recruiting efforts. I am so glad your group interview went well the other day for the BWI position (I am not sure which position you put in for exactly, but they are all awesome!). Should you pass the next step in the interview process, you would then be sent for a complete background check, drug screen and fingerprint process (not necessarily in that order). The timeframe for all of these may vary, depending on the number of Candidates the BWI office is working with Ã

Thank you all for your interest in becoming a Flight Attendant for Southwest Airlines! My name is Shari Perez and I am the Employment Manager over the Flight Attendant hiring process. Hopefully I will be answering a few of the great questions I see out here on the blog. Although our web site at southwest.com states that we are not taking resumes at this time, we are continually hiring the best Flight Attendants in the industry. We are just lucky enough to have lots and lots of resumes right now that we want to work through. As many of you know, the first step in the interview process is the Group Information Session, and then you could be asked to attend a one on one interview. If you successfully complete those steps, you would then be sent for a complete background check, drug screen and fingerprint process (not necessarily in that order). The timeframe for all of these may vary, depending on the volume of Candidates we are working with Ã
