Bill,
Thanks again for taking all of the time addressing specific requests/posts.
My advice to my father was, "If you see a fare you can't live without, buy it, but remember, all of SWA's low fares will be posted with the new schedule, and are frequently lower than the other guy's 'sale fares'".
I'm sorry some are losing patience, but others realize the value in waiting for the non-stop service at SWA prices. I'd armchair quarterback your performance too, but I need it for the Bears. ;-)

Bill,
Thank you for addressing the EXACT topic my Dad emailed me about, only TWO days ago. ;-)
Glad my answer was close to, although not as complete, as yours.
Will
P.S. BTW, did you say we're currently in one of those 'less than 120 periods' right now?? j/k

Well Chris, I usually tell folks "You wouldn't take your seatbelt off, three blocks from your house!", but the reality is there is LOTS that can happen, on your way to the gate.
A car or tug on the ramp can cross the aircraft's path = sudden stop.
Same for windy days, luggage cart = sudden stop
And there have been accidents, involving airliners that got too close to eachother taxiing = scrape, sudden change of direction
There are other examples, but the point is, "What's your hurry?" I'm not going to open the door any earlier. Why ruin a perfectly safe flight by tempting Murphy's Law?? Frequently, we're early, so we owe you the whole ride, anyway.
Fly SAFE!!!

I wanted to try to answer Chris, as I was on another flight in the exact same situation.
Your first four choices, all NY area airports, don't have SWA service, personnel, or equipment. We simply don't have the ability to go there, unless it was an emergency, and although Customers may feel it so, weather isn't an emergency. ;-)
The second part of the decision making process is "how do we accommodate our Customers when the weather lifts??" This is why PHL and BDL are out. They don't have scheduled service to ISP, so we'd end up stranding people in those airports, or flying them thru BWI, just to get them home to ISP.
If it makes any difference, this is where SWA People really have to be up to the challenge, and we aren't always. We would ALWAYS rather take you where you want to go. Please know I worked my tail off trying to do the best for my flight and, based on the narrative, Ray certainly did, as well.

Okay, I admit it. I'm a schedule geek!!!
It was fun (yeah, I know, still "nuts") looking through the .pdf schedule on Southwest.com, seeing all the ways ya'll connected DAL to the rest of the system. REALLY nice job on the one stops, gang!!!
I've already carried DAL passengers on my ABQ-SEA flight, this month, so I know what you're doing is appreicated by our Customers.
And your Internal Customers, as well.
