Thank you, Brooks.
Although I never met Brian in person, I enjoyed conversing with him via this blog as a charter member, email and Twitter. We shared a love of aviation and all things SMU. You will be missed, Brian.

Happy to assist. I hope our friends in HOU return the favor when DAL opens up in 2014. Can't wait to see the Wright Amendment go away!

Future topic request - why were N20SW, N21SW and N22SW chosen for the first series of plane numbers? What happened to N(1-19)SW? Already taken by someone else?
As always, excellent stuff!

To geeky? No way! This great stuff, Brian. I love photos of the planes before they graduated to SWA!
I was lucky to see N271LV while it was still wearing it's white Ford livery and former registration.

Hey Brian,
You are spot on with the 1982-1983 guess for that cheer squad. I recognize 2 of them and I'll see if I can get you more information about what they were doing over there.
Go Mustangs!

Very nice.
I propose that when N352SW Lone Star One -300 is retired, the new Lone Star One should be an -800. We're bigger & better, you know.

When DFW opened, our youth minister took us out to see the airport and to ride the AirTrans. Another fun fact is that the bathrooms had locks on them with coin slots. I can't remember if it was 10 or 25 cents just to open the stall. Can you imagine a public place charging for the bathroom today?
As always, LUV Flashback Friday!

I like the gold point above the cockpit on that Air Alaska jet. Pretty cool design feature.
More Flashback Friday greatness!

Bill - why does the schedule only open through Friday? Makes it hard to plan a trip that weekend, which I am. I can book my outbound flight, but not a Sunday 11/4 return.
Thanks,
Steve

I think one of your customers should get the chance to go pick up the plane with your other valued employees. I volunteer. : )

Can't wait to fly on an Evolve -700. Will probably have to wait for bye-bye Wright Amendment to get an -800 from DAL.

Hey Brian,
Didn't know that you were a Mustang! Good to know that we have someone there to balance out the purple menace that Christi promotes in your department. Do I see a side bet on the game this year? 9/24 at Ford Stadium.

Bill,
We need a special DAL-LBB-DAL flight added on Sunday, 9/5. Let's depart 9:30 am and return 8:30 pm. Lots of Mustangs (and Red Raiders) want a day trip to see SMU-Texas Tech. Not interested in spending 2 nights in Lubbock.
Thanks,
SS

Hey Brian,
When you retire a plane, how much of it it stripped to be used as parts/spares on other aircraft. Seats, bins, galley, etc. Just curious.
Love these Flashback Friday's.

My very first airplane flight was on SWA as a kid in the mid-70's from DAL to SAT. Whenever I fly out now, I always enjoy seeing the old -200 sitting there. Glad I had a quick football trip last weekend and was able to see it one last time, although I didn't know it at the time. To me, it was always a little bit of SWA history sitting over there at the North Concourse.
