I always check both prices, before booking. Having said that, you can go to the low far calendar and see the prices for each month for every leg - actuals that don't change. Other airlines change the price when you pick different flights, SW is upfront and shows you the costs. The only extra cost when checking out on SW will be the taxes or if you pick early bird you will be charged that at check out. Hope this helps.

You can go back at anytime and check for early bird on your receipt, there will be either a square outlined in green saying EB or something that looks like a sun rising. Make sure you have checked each traveler when purchasing the early bird. I book my flights, and then go back in to add the EB. I hope you have better luck in the future!

They can't really save full rows, I would talk to the flight attendants, if the seat is open - it is fair game. However I am not sure I would want to sit next to someone that is going to be feisty about me being in their row. 🙂 Good luck!

I find Sunday/Tues nights to be the best time to check for cheaper fares. However the farther out you can book, the more reasonable the flight cost will be for example a flight currently I looked at in May was close to $350.00 but same flight in September is $127.00. Also the glorious thing about Southwest is if you check back and the flight you booked is cheaper you can "change and rebook" the flight and SW will hold the difference on account for your next flight, I check back often on flights I have already booked just for that reason. I am currently keeping my eye out for the end of Nov flights to open up.....if you book right away you will get the best prices! Happy hunting!
