This is a guest post from our friends at Lilly Pulitzer.
Southwest and Lilly Pulitzer paired up in June to celebrate the first day of summer in STYLE. Did you know that the first day of summer is also National Wear Your Lilly Day? We helped to spread the word by starting the morning off in Tampa and Houston terminals, serving up fashionable giveaways and smiles to passersby. We brightened up the terminals with Lilly artists painting canvases, showing Customers exactly how the colorful prints of Lilly Pulitzer come to life. The fun continued with onboard trivia and special treats for passengers making their way to Fort Lauderdale on two lucky flights. Do you have any trips planned this summer? We’ve gathered up some favorites from our Lilly Pulitzer friends located in a few of Lilly’s most-loved Southwest cities:
Palm Beach:
Fly into Palm Beach International, just a quick 15-minute drive from the island of Palm Beach where Lilly Pulitzer herself began the iconic American resort wear brand. Here, you can find the brightest of prints, coconut covered palm trees and sunny skies. Get lost shopping in the vias off of Worth Avenue, a popular travel destination for Lilly’s sun-seeking shoppers, and be sure to grab a bite from Green’s Pharmacy, where JFK once enjoyed burgers. Staying for a bit? Check out iconic The Breakers resort, a unique and beautiful stay that has remained virtually unchanged from the time Henry Flagler built it in 1896.
Charleston:
South Carolina holds its own gem on its warm and sunny coast; the city of Charleston. On popular King Street, you can find a bright and inviting Lilly Pulitzer store front, Palm Avenue. Choose a sunny weather look for your day around town. You can start your day taking a jog through one of the city’s beautiful parks in Lilly Luxletic, before grabbing coffee and a classic Southern brunch from Poogan’s Porch. Keep your day as colorful as the Lilly prints you’re wearing with a visit to Rainbow Row and Waterfront Park. Toast tothe end of your wonderful stay with a cocktail and spectacular view at Charleston Harbor Fish House in a classic shift.
Tampa:
Craving a trip to the coast but don’t want to lose the city feel? Tampa is your destination. With its combination of history and resort vibes, Tampa is a unique travel destination for anyone who loves sunshine. Just minutes away from Tampa International Airport is the International Plaza Mall, stacked with stores—including Lilly!—to fulfill any fashion-lover’s cravings. Got your fashion fix? Not far from the Plaza is Wright’s Deli, a local’s favorite lunch spot. But save room for dessert! We warn you the cakes are to die for. Top off your stay at The Columbia Restaurant in iconic Ybor City near downtown Tampa.
Orlando:
Whether you have a theme park mindset for your visit, or simply the hope for a relaxing resort stay, here you will find bold prints and comfortable sportswear. With two store front locations in this booming city, Lilly is your travel-look destination for this trip. Start your afternoon walking around the park, protected in our UPF 50+ styles, and ending your day unwinding in a simple and light Marlowe dress on a cool Orlando night. Get a taste of Cuba by enjoying some Latin Rhythms and an authentic meal at Mango’s Tropical Café. Beat the park-goers at night and hit up the newly renovated Disney Springs, which has plenty of food and entertainment options to choose from, in Ghirardelli Chocolate Shop and a Hard Rock Café.
Boston:
There’s no better way to combine our nations’ history with a resort chic aesthetic than with a visit to Boston, one of our country’s founding cities. Here, you can spend your breezy summer day walking the Freedom Trail or the SoWa Market in a comfortable Lilly Custom Color cotton top, with printed Callahan shorts.. Consider yourself a book worm? Sneak a peek in the Boston Public Library and grab an afternoon tea from The Courtyard while you’re there. Enjoy a tasty lobster roll at James Hook and Co. on the harbor, soaking up the sun in a Lilly sunny shoulder top. Finish your day in the oldest MLB stadium—Fenway, of course—in a Lilly Navy Top with a Fenway frank in hand.
