Im currently approaching the points threshold to qualify for a companion pass via RR. However, I also want to use points in the near future to book a flight. My question is if I use available points, lets say its 16,000 points for a round-trip flight, will that put me 16,000 points further away from a companion pass? Or, is it an aggregate total of points earned in a 12-month period? Im trying to decide whether to pay for flight out of pocket or if I can use my points without setting me back towards reaching the 110,000 point threshold to earn a companion pass. Thoughts?
