If you read the blog lately, you realize we turned 39 on Friday! But the party doesn’t stop at Southwest Airlines—we’re spreading the cheer to you! Today, we announced fares as low as $39 one-way to celebrate 39 years of service.

For 72-hours only, you can purchase one-way tickets for $39, $79, or $119, based on length of travel (additional taxes, fees, and exclusions apply). For travel up to 450 miles, fares are $39 one-way. For travel between 451 and 1000 miles, fares are $79 one-way. For travel more than 1001 miles, fares are $119 one-way. These super low fares are available through 11:59 pm PDT June 24, 2010, for travel beginning Sept. 8, 2010, through Nov. 17, 2010.

Children are out of school right now and there should be some specials for them to come to Florida! If only to visit grammy. Things are tight right now and need more specials now.

Always been a huge fan - Rewards card holder since early 90's. Gotta tell ya some of the lustre is gone as I tried to use a free ticket to see either my sister Phoenix, or in Florida. Could not get a full weekend in with the one in Florida through the entire summer! and to see the one in AZ, had to leave late Friday night and return early Sunday morn...not even 36 hours of visit time. ARGH! You are acting like the big airlines to me now - touting your rewards program but realistically, can't be used easily - which is not appealing. I am afraid to look at these $39 specials...probably very limited.

You have lots of sales lately with flights up and down the west coast and east coast but not much inbetween. I'm looking for sales between Sacramento, California and Buffalo, New York. Nothing for a long long time. Also, you must have very very few frequent flyer seats available as there are none now (end of June) in July and until the end of August. Why even try for FF miles if you don't make enough seats available. I'll have to go look for last minute deals with other airlines.

I HAVE BEEN FLYING SOUTHWEST FOR ALMOST 39 YEARS, THE SAME AS THE CRACKER BARREL CHAIN STARTED. BOTH HAVE DONE VERY WELL. I TRY TO FLY S.W. ALWAYS, UNLESS IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. I HAVE ALWAYS RECEIVED GOOD SERVICE,GOOD FARES AND PLEASANT SMILES. I RECENTLY FLEW WITH A COMPETITOR AND RECEIVED NONE OF THE ABOVE, JUST A VERY UNCOMFORTABLE SEAT. SURE WISH YOU FLEW INTO MY TOWN. I PRAY FOR THIS SOMEDAY SOON. MAY GOD BLESS........................KENNY D.

Southwest is the best there ever was. I began flying when I was 2 years old along with my parents on Panam because I believe it was the only airline flying that particular route. I recall it was a DC-3 because we had to go up a steep slope to get to our seats. Now, Southwest has taken on that role of the airline you can trust to take care of you, again and again. Happy 39th Birthday!
