Using points for flights while earning CP?

I currently have around 63,000 points in my SW portal and another 80,000 transferring from my CC soon. Can I use those points that are already in my portal towards flights and not hurt my CP progress? I wanted to take advantage of the 50% WOW sale this week and wasn't sure if I used any of those points if it would take away from what I need for CP. Thanks!!

Using RR points in no way affects your current year progress towards CP.

What counts is earning points.
