If you print the PDF boarding pass at 100% scale on 8.5" x 11" paper in portrait layout (the Print Setting should also be 'Do Not Scale' or 'Actual Size'), you should be able to fold the print in half with all the boarding details and barcodes showing on the top half only. The Southwest promo's will show on the bottom half. When folded, that will give you a 8.5" x 5.5" paper footprint.

The print will still be a few inches taller than a printout from the airport (usually about 8" x 3.25") but the 8.5" x 5.5" print should fit AOK inside of a purse, backpack, or personal item bag.

If you fold it gently the printout will still work as long as the paper isn't worn at the creases.

I usually have a backpack or put it in the outer pocket of carry on luggage which would be fine for most travelers.
